The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 139

Night had settled in, thick and heavy, with a sharp, restless autumn wind. Dry yellow leaves floated down all around, making the street feel even lonelier.

Nathalie walked along the sidewalk, her mood a tangled mess. She just couldn’t shake the thought: if the sapphire earrings had belonged to her grandparents, why was Felice so obsessed with having them? Felice kept saying the earrings really mattered to her. And Camilla was acting odd too, insisting the earrings should go to Felice.

It didn’t make sense. Was there some hidden connection between the earrings and Felice’s family?

All these questions spun around in Nathalie’s mind. When she got home, she took out the sapphire earrings and sat under the lamp, turning them over in her hand. She stared for a long time, thinking. As soon as she finished her work, she would pay Grandma a visit and hand them over. No matter what, she owed her that much.

The teahouse smelled of fragrant leaves, calm and inviting. Behind a folding screen, mountain landscapes rolled across the painting, lush and peaceful.

Daniel faced Lance across the table, skipping pleasantries. “Did you talk Felice into giving up her shares?”

Lance poured tea, his face as sharp and unreadable as ever. He met Daniel’s gaze and said, “She’s not actually the Blair family’s biological daughter.”

Daniel’s brow creased. “Don’t you think you’re getting a bit too involved in Blair family business?”

Lance gave a small smile. “You’re my father-in-law. Some things are my concern.”

He was young, but there was a quiet power about him. Right now, with his energy subdued, Daniel couldn’t read him at all.

“They’re just earrings,” Lance replied. “If my wife loves them, why would I take them away and give them to someone else?”

“Nathalie basically just snatched them,” Daniel said, anger bubbling close to the surface. “Honestly, both of you are behaving like kids. Felice never asks for anything. All she wanted was those earrings. Why can’t you just let her have them?”

Lance looked up, his eyes dark and steady. “My wife and I already argued over this. Now you want me to hand them over to Felice? Are you hoping we’ll keep fighting?”

Daniel went silent, thinking that over. After a while, he sighed. “If Felice can’t have the earrings, then I’ll stick with the original plan. She gets three percent of The Blair Group as compensation. Lance, you stay out of it.”

He stared Lance down, waiting to see if he had anything else to say.
