The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 140

Lance looked up at Daniel and met his gaze. “Did you ever think about Nathalie when you made these decisions?”

Daniel frowned. “I already gave her shares. What else could she possibly want?”

He paused for a second, then added, “Anyway, Felice saved your life, Lance. Don’t you think you owe her?”

The teahouse grew quiet. The scent of freshly brewed tea drifted in the air, but the room felt colder than before.

After a moment, Lance finally spoke. “You can offer Felice shares in The Blair Group, but if she doesn’t want them, you can’t force her. She knows exactly what matters more to her—the shares, or Jasper. And I’m sure you do, too.”

Daniel’s expression turned stormy. Now he understood what Lance was holding over Felice’s head. Jasper was everything to Felice.

“Lance, how can you treat Felice like this? She saved your life,” Daniel snapped, barely holding back his anger.

“That’s my problem, not yours,” Lance replied, his voice calm and steady. “You’re acting like she saved your life, not mine.”

“You—” Daniel was so angry his face turned red. He shot to his feet and left the room without another word.

He had counted on Lance feeling grateful enough to protect Felice, but nothing about Lance followed the usual rules. What was he thinking? Was he good to Felice or not? Sometimes it seemed like he cared, sometimes it didn’t. Daniel just couldn’t read him at all.

Meanwhile, Lance finished his tea in silence. After a long moment, he rose and made his way outside, where his assistant Aaron was waiting for him.

“Lance, should we head back to the office now?”

As they started walking, Lance said, “Look into why the Blair family adopted Felice.”

“Will do.”

The manager watched Nathalie as she walked away, giving her a longer look before heading back to his own office.

That evening, everyone met up at the restaurant for the dinner. The manager was the last to come out, and when he saw that Nathalie had an empty seat in her passenger side, he walked right over and smiled.

“Looks like there’s still a spot for me. Would you mind giving me a ride?”

Nathalie glanced over. “Didn’t you get a car yet, Gavin?”

Gavin chuckled. “I’m still pretty new around here. I haven’t found the right place to live yet, still staying at a hotel. Got any suggestions?”

“Actually, yeah,” Nathalie replied, nodding. She listed a few residential complexes. “All of these are in great spots. I think they’re really worth checking out.”

The people in the car behind them overheard and looked at each other in surprise. Every place Nathalie mentioned was a high-end, luxury community—prime locations with sky-high prices. Just one apartment there could cost millions.
