The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 141

Gavin didn’t really know much about the market here. He just pulled out his phone and started writing things down. “Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll check with an agent later.”

Nathalie gave a little half-smile. For the whole ride, Gavin kept finding new topics to talk about. He asked about the best spots for food, all the places people liked to hang out, and what made the city special. He felt like a friend already, not too close, not too far, just right. Nathalie chatted back, but only put in a little effort.

Before long, they arrived at the restaurant.

At the door, they ran into Felice. She turned to Gavin. “Gavin, I just got a call. My son’s not feeling well, so I need to head home and check on him. I can’t stay tonight. I’m really sorry. I’ll treat you to dinner another day as an apology.”

Gavin nodded. “Family comes first. Go take care of him.”

“Thanks.” Felice gave a grateful smile, then left in a hurry.

Nathalie barely gave it a second thought. She followed Gavin inside. Most of the team was already in the private room.

Dinner was loud and lively, with round after round of drinks. Everyone got a little tipsy along the way.

After a while, Nathalie stood up to use the bathroom. As she disappeared around the corner, two men at the end of the hallway glanced at each other. Then they slipped into the private room next door.

When Nathalie came back, she noticed someone had filled her glass again.

Gavin was standing beside her, grinning. “Let me toast you. You spent the ride showing me around with all your local tips. Thanks for making me feel at home.”

He said it and then polished off his drink.

Everyone glanced her way.

“Gavin’s so chill. Working with him will be fun. Nathalie, you can’t back out now,” someone called out, half-joking, half-pressuring.

It was hard not to give in.

Addis was sitting close by, watching the scene. He spoke up, “She’s the main voice actress. If she drinks too much and loses her voice, are you going to find me someone new?”

Before long, the room almost emptied out.

Gavin rubbed his temples. “Could you help me to the next room? I’ve got a headache. I just need to rest a minute.”

He hesitated, then added, “Also, I want to talk to you about Felice.”

Nathalie’s eyes flickered with interest.

Something about Felice? Was she getting fired? Honestly, that would be perfect. She’d love to watch Felice fall from grace.

She nodded, stood up, and helped Gavin out and into the quiet room next door.

Once they were inside, Nathalie hit the light and looked at him. “So, what is it?”
