The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 164

Nathalie kept glancing at the rearview mirror. The car behind her was obviously expensive, and when she caught sight of the license plate, her eyebrows pinched together in recognition. The traffic thinned out as she approached a turn, but the car following her didn’t slow down—it suddenly accelerated, racing up on her bumper.

Her hands tightened on the steering wheel. Her eyes went wide in shock as she slammed her foot down, picking up speed.

What the hell? Is he actually trying to hit me?

Gavin noticed right away, looking shaken. “Do you know who that is?”

She barely glanced at him, a dry, annoyed tone in her voice. “Just a lunatic.”

Gavin’s hand reached up for the grab handle. “We... we’re going to be okay, right?”

Nathalie couldn’t help but smile at how serious he looked. “Relax, you’re not going to die.”

Gavin gave her a look, clearly not reassured, but he didn’t say anything else.

The car behind them kept chasing, relentless, forcing Nathalie to drive faster than she wanted. A trip that should have taken longer was over in less than ten minutes. As soon as they stopped, Gavin jumped out without a goodbye and practically sprinted into his house.

Nathalie got out too, heading straight for the car parked a few spaces back. She knocked hard on the window, sharp and impatient. A moment later, the door opened and a tall, lean man stepped out—the person she’d honestly expected.

Without hesitation, Nathalie raised her hand to slap him. He caught her wrist before she made contact, his grip firm and warm. But she just glared at him, her expression cold.

“Lance, what’s wrong with you?” she snapped. “Are you out of your mind?”

Suddenly, he reached up and grabbed the back of her neck, forcing her to look up at him. Then his mouth crashed onto hers, desperate and rough.

He just couldn’t stand hearing any more of that.

“Mmph—” Nathalie tried to pull away, struggling hard, but he held her fast, refusing to let her go. She twisted, but he only kissed her harder, relentless, stealing every bit of air from her lungs as their mouths clashed.

She tasted a trace of blood between them. Still, he didn’t stop.

Only when she was breathless did Lance finally let her go, his own voice low and hoarse. “I don’t care what you say. You’re my wife. I’m not letting you go run around with other men.”

Nathalie was gasping, her chest rising and falling as she glared at him, furious at both his words and the way he’d just dominated her yet again.
