The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 265

Camilla’s brows knitted, her voice edged with irritation. “Nathalie, what’s with your attitude? My mom’s in the hospital, of course I’m going to be here for her.”

Nathalie stared back, honestly stunned at how bold Camilla could be. After everything she’d said to Grandma, she still showed up here, like nothing happened. Some people had no shame. It was honestly impressive in its own way.

Her face went cold. “You should just go home. We don’t need you here. I’ll take care of Grandma.”

Camilla just shook her head. “I’m not leaving. I want to stay and look after my mom.”

She turned to Adelaide. “Mom, is it okay if I stay here with you?”

Adelaide didn’t object. “Alright,” she said simply.

Nathalie didn’t understand, and her neat brows drew together in confusion, but she wasn’t about to question her grandmother in front of everyone.

Right then, Daniel walked in. “Nathalie, do you realize how serious it is that your grandmother’s in the hospital? Why didn’t you tell us? You really have no sense of priority.”

Nathalie answered coolly, “How did you even find out?”

Daniel gave a short laugh. “Felice told us. She’s still got old friends at the company. When your boss came to visit the hospital, they found out what happened and told her. She let us know right away. If it weren’t for her, we’d still be in the dark.”

Nathalie felt a sharp twinge of annoyance.

Camilla turned back to Adelaide. “Mom, you haven’t met Felice yet, have you? She’s the girl Daniel and I adopted. She’s sweet, thoughtful, graceful, and honestly so pretty. She really cares about you, but she was afraid you wouldn’t like her, so she decided not to come.”

Adelaide looked straight at her. “You already had Nathalie. Why did you need to adopt another daughter?”

Camilla’s eyes flickered, as if searching for the right words. “I saw her by chance and couldn’t help but feel for her. She was just a little girl in the orphanage. I wanted to bring her home. I also thought she could be a friend for Nathalie.”

The next half hour felt endless. Eventually the courier arrived, handing her a thin envelope.

She let out a shaky breath and tore it open, flipping to the last page of the report. The words blurred for a second, and then she saw it—the result. A 99.99 percent match.

She and Camilla really were mother and daughter.

All the fragile hope in her chest snuffed out in an instant. It felt ridiculous, almost laughable, how much she’d wanted to believe otherwise. But there it was.

She ripped the papers to shreds and tossed them in the nearest trash can.

If she was a Blair, then everything that was supposed to belong to her, she’d get back. There was no way Daniel and Camilla were giving what was hers to Felice.

When she came back into the room, her face was calm, smooth as glass. She looked Daniel straight in the eye. “So, I heard you started a company for Felice?”
