The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 267

Adelaide shook her head and said, “I’m really disappointed in you both. How could you treat Nathalie like this, all for an adopted daughter?”

Nathalie’s heart had been calm, settled, almost numb. But when she heard her grandmother speak up for her, something inside her shifted. It was like someone pressed a tender spot she’d almost forgotten about. Suddenly, her eyes stung and that bittersweet ache crept up, flooding her chest.

Her grandmother believed her. She always had. That trust felt incredible and, for the first time in a long time, gave Nathalie the courage to chin up.

She straightened her posture, leveled her gaze at the others, and said, “Cut it out with the drama. If I say I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it.”

Camilla simmered in silent frustration at Adelaide’s naivety. She wanted to argue, but now wasn’t the time. Adelaide was seriously ill, and even though the surgery went well, who knew how long she had left? All her wealth would eventually be Camilla’s anyway. There was no point in fighting over this right now. She swallowed her anger and stayed quiet.

Nathalie turned without another word and stepped out of the hospital room. She pulled out her phone and called Lance.

After three rings, he picked up. “Hey?”

His voice was low and—if you listened closely—just a little bit happy.

Of course he was. She barely ever called him first.

“Where are you? We need to talk,” Nathalie said, her tone flat and cool.

“I’ll come to the hospital,” Lance offered quickly.

“No,” Nathalie said. “I’ll come to you.”

“You… want to come see me?” He sounded even more cheerful, and she could practically hear him smiling.

She was starting to lose patience. “So where are you?”

“I’m at the office,” he replied—like he hadn’t even heard the edge in her voice.

Before he could say anything else, Nathalie just hung up.

Lance’s gaze turned thoughtful. He calmly pulled out a chair for her. “Sit down and eat first. We can talk after.”

Nathalie sat, completely unbothered by the gesture. She got straight to the point. “Withdraw your investment.”

Lance raised his eyebrows, half-amused. “Nathalie, are you jealous right now?”

“Just answer me,” Nathalie shot back, her voice icy. “Will you do it or not?”

Lance sighed quietly. “Nathalie, this isn’t that big of a deal.”

“Fine,” she said, nodding. “Then if you want to give Felice money, use your own. I want The Blair Group’s investment pulled out.”

That was what she came here for. She didn’t care how much Lance spent on Felice, but she would never let any of the Blair family money go to her.
