The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 276

Nathalie pressed her lips together, pushing her emotions back where they belonged.

She didn’t go into the hospital room right away. Instead, she lingered outside for a long time, waiting until she felt steady and certain she wouldn’t fall apart again. Only then did she finally step inside.

Adelaide was already fast asleep. Nathalie quietly curled up on the little cot beside her, watching her grandmother’s peaceful face. That heavy, aching feeling in her chest... she pictured herself digging it out and tossing it aside.

She was done hurting.

She’d seen the truth for a long time now. What was left to be sad about, really? If anything, she just felt more determined.

Daniel and Camilla owed her. They owed her so much. If they even tried giving Felice money, she wasn’t about to play nice anymore.

She didn’t want The Blair Group, but she’d make sure to bring it down anyway.

...

The next day, Camilla didn’t show up.

Adelaide didn’t mention her at all. Instead, she just looked over at Nathalie, taking in the tired lines on her face. “Sweetheart, did you not sleep well?”

Nathalie gave a small nod. “Yeah. I worked late last night. I’m just exhausted.”

“You have to balance work and rest,” Adelaide said gently. “You’re no good to anyone if you wear yourself out.”

“I know,” Nathalie said, managing a little smile. “I’ll listen to you. Promise.”

She made sure the three caregivers came back to keep an eye on Leda, then ate some breakfast before heading to work. She’d barely gotten through the front doors when her phone rang.

“Hello? This is Nathalie.”

A young man’s voice came through the line. “Hi, I’m looking for Ms. Nathalie Blair?”

“This is she. Who’s calling?” Nathalie frowned, feeling a flicker of curiosity.

“My name’s Garth. Adelaide hired me to handle the transfer of her assets into your name. Do you have time to meet today? Maybe right now?”

Nathalie’s eyes widened. She’d nearly forgotten all about this.

The memory hit her: before her grandmother got so sick, she’d been preparing to leave, and right before she left, she said she wanted Nathalie to have everything.

“These are all of Adelaide’s assets,” he explained, keeping his tone professional. “There’s a lot: thirty properties, five private islands, seven cruise ships, shares in biotech companies and bonds, a security company, some overseas holdings... Please look through everything. If it’s all correct, just sign at the marked places. The transfer takes effect right away once you’ve signed.”

Nathalie could only stare at the documents in disbelief.

Her grandmother had been this wealthy all along?

The Blair family didn’t own anything close to a private island. Did the Adams have anything like this? She honestly had no idea.

But it didn’t matter now. She wasn’t interested in the Adams family anymore.

This inheritance meant she was, without a doubt, worth more than the entire Blair family, just like that.

Excitement sparked in her chest, tangled up with so many other emotions she couldn’t even name.

She picked up the pen and started signing, her hand moving steadily through every page. It took nearly an hour to finish.

Once she was done, Garth neatly packed the documents and gave her a warm smile. “Ms. Blair, from today forward, I’ll continue managing these assets for you, just as I did for Adelaide. But if you ever want someone else, it’s completely up to you.”
