The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 311

Nathalie didn’t even glance at Camilla. It was like she didn’t see her mother at all, like nothing about her mattered anymore.

A ripple of panic crept through Camilla. For as long as she could remember, she believed Nathalie would always be her daughter. Flesh and blood. No matter what happened, Nathalie would be on her side.

Now, for the first time, she wasn’t so sure.

Felice was still on the floor. She wasn’t crying anymore. Her hair had come loose, hiding her face from view.

Nathalie stood over her, looking down. “After all these years of pretending, aren’t you exhausted?

Felice got to her feet, moving slowly. She didn’t kneel in defeat this time. There was a bright red handprint on her cheek, making her look even more pitiful.

She met Nathalie’s eyes. Her voice was as delicate as ever, trembling at the edges. Nathalie, are you really going after the Blair Group? That’s everything Mom and Dad built

Nathalie frowned a little. Something felt off, and she couldn’t pin it down. Felice was acting weird, even now. Why keep pretending after everything? She didn’t answer. Her eyes stayed cold, fixed on Felice.

Felice pressed a hand to her face and blinked at her, voice turning almost playful. Why aren’t you saying anything, Nathalie?

What are you trying to do?

That uneasy feeling twisted tighter inside Nathalie, like a knot she couldn’t undo.

Chapter

Felice’s voice grew soft. I haven’t done anything.”

Then she turned and walked away.

Nathalie watched her go, her eyebrows pulled tight together. She couldn’t figure out what Felice was up to, no matter how hard she tried. Was she just performing for their parents this whole time? Now that nobody was watching, did she not care anymore?

Was Felice still trying to make herself look innocent, hoping the parents would blame Nathalie for everything? That game didn’t work anymore,

did it?

Nathalie pulled out her phone and typed a quick message to Nicol.

Nathalie: Keep an eye on Felice.

Nicol: On it.

Nathalie headed back into the hospital room. Adelaide looked over the second she walked in, eyes darting across her as if checking for scrapes and bruises. Only when she was satisfied did her face relax.

My sweet girl knows how to take care of herself now. That makes me so proud,Adelaide said with a gentle smile.

Nathalie sat down by the bed. After everything, I see things much clearer

now.

Adelaide patted her hand. That’s growing up. We learn as we go.She paused for a moment, then spoke softer. But Nathalie, they’re still your parents. They raised you. They failed you later, but you can’t escape the fact that they’re your family. If they leave you alone, then just let them fade from your world.”

Her grandmother’s gentle gaze warmed the air.

Nathalie’s eyelashes fluttered. Alright. I’ll listen to you.”

Adelaide squeezed her hand, and the room quietly settled.
