If this is a bad time for you, we’ll put the studio on hold. But I keep the project open. Whenever you’ve sorted everything out, you ca always come back to me.”

Nathalie countered, “You don’t need to do that. If I decide I want to pic up again in the future, we can just start from scratch.”

“I wouldn’t hear of it,” Freddy said with a soft, knowing smile. “If I keep project open, you’ll at least have a reason to think about it. If we scrap entirely, you might never come back.”

There felt like a hidden layer to his words.

But Nathalie didn’t catch it. She simply picked up her glass and took a

“You were definitely imagining things, Gran. Freddy and I are just friend And shouldn’t friends maintain healthy boundaries? Getting too close wouldn’t be good for either of us.”

Her grandmother pressed, refusing to let it go entirely. “So you truly dor have those kinds of feelings for him?”

Nathalie answered honestly. “I really don’t. Please don’t try to play matchmaker. It’ll just make things incredibly awkward for both of us.”

Nathalie stayed and watched TV with her grandmother for a while befor heading up to take a shower and sleep.
