The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 404

Chapter 404

Camilla’s body trembled violently. Supported by Daniel, she looked at Nathalie in sheer ágony, “Nathalie, we… we loved you..”

“Maybe”

Nathalie stood up, her gaze devoid of warmth. “I have no idea what possessed you to spoil and favor Felice to the point of madness, treating her like glass while stepping all over me. used to care. I used to let it tear me apart. But when I found out I wasn’t even your flesh and blood, I suddenly stopped caring.”

“No, Nathalie…”

Camilla desperately wanted to plead her case.

But Daniel cut in sharply. “She’s already made up her mind. Even if we didn’t share blood, we raised her for over two decades. She’s nothing but an ungrateful wretch. Why are you wasting your breath on her?”

“Daniel, no, don’t say that…” Camilla shook her head, refusing to accept his words.

“That’s our daughter. The baby we prayed for. We…” Camilla started, before a violent fit of coughing wracked her frail body. Her complexion turned a ghastly shade of gray.

“Camilla, stop talking. I’ll get the doctor.” Seeing her state, Daniel panicked. He carefully laid her back against the pillows and rushed out of the room.

Camilla began coughing up blood, the horrific sight sending a chill through the air.

Adelaide instinctively stood up and rushed over to grip her hand. “Camilla…”

Camilla squeezed her mother’s hand tightly, desperately trying to get some words out. But the more frantic she became, the harder she coughed, unable to form a single syllable.

The doctor arrived swiftly, administering an injection before wheeling her out for an

emergency scan.

Silence fell over the empty hospital room.

Daniel glared at Nathalie with a venomous coldness. “You shouldn’t have dropped this on her right now. Her body couldn’t take it.”

Nathalie met his glare calmly. “Then when should I have said it? I think right now was the perfect time.”

“You…”

Daniel’s brows twisted in fury. “You are truly a heartless monster. You saw how much pain she was in. Didn’t you feel an ounce of pity?”

A mocking smile tugged at Nathalie’s lips. “The old me would have been devastated. But the person standing in front of you today feels absolutely nothing.”

She had brushed past death several times herself; she had slowly learned to accept the harsh realities of life.

She just wanted to cut ties and be done with them.

“What an ungrateful brat,” Daniel cursed under his breath.

“Watch your mouth, Daniel.”

Lance, who had been standing silently by the door, finally spoke up. His predatory eyes pinned the older man in place. “She is not your daughter. You do not get to hurl insults at her And hearing you speak to her like that puts me in a very foul mood.”

“Hmph. I raised her for twenty years. I can curse her out if I damn well please!” Daniel was already furious, and Lance’s intervention only fueled the fire.

Lance’s eyes narrowed dangerously. An overwhelming aura of dominance radiated from him, instantly suffocating the hospital room with a heavy, oppressive dread.

“Grandmother, should we leave now?”
