The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 412

Chapter 412

Nathalie glanced at the time. “It’s seven in the evening. What are you busy with?”

Aaron smiled. “Busy keeping my girlfriend company.”

Nathalie was speechless.

Fair enough.

She had no right to force the man to stay.

Being an executive assistant was grueling enough; finding time to date was practically a

miracle.

Aaron gave a polite nod and left.

Nathalie looked at Lance, who was still unconscious on the bed. Her gaze cooled slightly before she went back to her mobile game.

Knock, knock!

A few moments later, the door chimed.

Nathalie looked up to see Sophia walking in, carrying a large fruit basket.

“Ms. Blair.”

Nathalie sighed lightly. “You didn’t have to bring anything. Why buy fruit?”

Sophia smiled shyly. “It felt wrong to show up empty-handed. You always bring something when visiting a patient, right? That way they recover faster.

Her eyes naturally drifted to Lance’s face on the bed. A flash of pure amazement lit up her eyes, but she quickly masked her reaction.

“Ms. Blair, is it okay if we step outside to talk?”

Nathalie shook her head. “No need. We can talk right here.”

Sophia hesitated. “Won’t we disturb his rest?”

“No,” Nathalie replied flatly. “He’s unconscious. If our chatting manages to wake him up, then he’s out of the woods.”

Sophia blinked at that and forced a stiff smile.

Nathalie pulled her over to the sofa and asked, “What exactly happened that day? I ran into some trouble of my own, so I couldn’t make it to you.”

At the question, Sophia’s brows knitted together, a clear shadow of fear crossing her eyes.

haven’t graduated yet. Out of nowhere, a company called me in for an interview. I was so excited, so I went. But the location turned out to be an abandoned, unfinished building complex. Not long after I walked in, the main gates were locked behind me.

The memory made Sophia visibly tremble, her hands subconsciously balling into fists. “I couldn’t find a way out, and I was terrified someone was going to hurt me. That’s when I called you.”

Nathalie frowned, processing the information. “So they just locked you inside? No one ever showed up after that?”

“Yeah,” Sophia nodded. “I was so confused later. Was it just a sick prank? But why would anyone target me for a prank?”

Nathalie fell deep into thought.

It seemed the trap had been meant for her all along.

The timing was too perfect-Nicol had just left her side, and almost immediately, she was ambushed.
