The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 446

Chapter 446

Lance walked over, looking at her intense, thoughtful expression. A faint smile touched his lips. “I looked into her parents. They passed away overseas, but I haven’t tracked down the exact cause of death yet. However, Daniel and Camilla were definitely traveling with them when it happened.”

Nathalie’s eyes lit up instantly. “I knew it! That has to be it, right? Why else would they care so deeply about Felice?”

“Yeah.”

Lance sat down beside her, his voice low and steady. “But knowing this now… what does it change?”

“It just clears up the confusion in my head.” Nathalie lowered her gaze. She needed to understand why Daniel and Camilla favored Felice to such a toxic, suffocating degree.

Now, it all made sense.

It was guilt. A desperate attempt to atone.

And a guilt strong enough to warrant that kind of desperation had to involve a life.

Watching her deep in thought, a sharp pang of sympathy hit Lance’s chest. She had figured out this layer of the truth, but she was completely blind to the other half.

Why was Felice so determined to tear the Blair family apart?

Nathalie hadn’t dug that deep yet.

But honestly, it was better that she didn’t. This way, she wouldn’t have to see just how truly vicious human nature could be.

Nathalie turned to him. “How did you get back so fast?”

“I told you I’d be quick,” Lance replied smoothly. “I wasn’t about to leave you here alone”

Hearing him mention the danger, she didn’t press the issue.

“You should find somewhere else to sleep,” she said instead. “There’s only one sofa here, and it barely fits one person.”

“Who says?”

Lance raised an eyebrow. He gripped her shoulders, gently pushing her so she was lying on her side against the backrest. Then, he laid down right next to her, his large frame pressing tightly against hers, practically squishing her into the cushions.

Nathalie’s eyes widened in shock. “Are you seriously sleeping like this?”

With his arm securely around her, Lance admired her stunned expression and let out a soft chuckle. “Seems like a perfect fit to me.”

Nathalie scowled. “It’s awful. It’s so cramped I can’t even move.”

“We’ll just have to make do for one night,” Lance laughed softly. “Tomorrow, I’ll book a room at a hotel nearby so we can easily come and go.”

“Then go book a room right now. Don’t crowd me here,” Nathalie shoved at him. “I have no desire to ‘make do’ with you.”

Instead of moving, Lance simply pulled her tighter. “If you push any harder, we’re both going to fall on the floor.”

Feeling the weight of his strength, Nathalie realized he wasn’t budging. She didn’t want to hit the floor, but she definitely didn’t want to be andwiched against him either.

Her face turned icy. “Let me go. I need to use the restroom.”

Lance raised an eyebrow, gracefully getting up to let her pass. He

watched her disappear into the bathroom.

But when she came out, she sat down on a hard chair, making it glaringly obvious she refused to share the sofa with him again.

Lance let out an amused breath but didn’t force the issue. He laid back down on the sofa alone.

It was a two-seater, incredibly small. At over six feet tall, he looked absolutely ridiculous trying to fit on it.

Yet, he made no move to get up. He just closed his eyes and drifted off.

The night grew darker as the hours ticked by.

When Lance opened his eyes, he saw that Nathalie had fallen asleep

resting her head on the edge of the hospital bed. Her cheek was squished against her arms, making her look surprisingly adorable.

He got up, walked over, and carefully scooped her into his arms.

He moved with practiced gentleness, not disturbing her slumber in the slightest. He laid her down on the sofa, and she naturally rolled over to face the backrest, falling into an even deeper sleep.
