Chapter 478
Sophia’s eyes curved into bright crescents. “Yes! Deal.”
She was already wearing the standard maid’s uniform, and she moved with quick, efficient energy. After chatting with Nathalie for a few more minutes, she turned back to her chores.
Nathalie headed straight to her room and took a long shower, scrubbing away the lingering scent of blood. But the image of Fabian, battered and refusing to give up the name of the person who wanted her dead, kept flashing through her mind. It left her feeling deeply unsettled. As long as she didn’t know who was pulling the strings, a sword would remain hanging over her head.
Turning off the water, she took a deep breath and stepped out of the bathroom.
Meanwhile, Daniel had been desperately trying to find a way to see Nathalie. Unfortunately, he couldn’t even get close to Lumina Grand. Every time he showed up, the estate’s security guards unceremoniously chased him off.
Stripped of his former arrogance, Daniel looked like he had aged a decade. He returned to their cramped two-bedroom apartment, the heavy stench of herbal medicine hitting him the second he walked through the door. Camilla sat on the couch, looking emaciated and deathly pale, forcing down a bowl of medicine.
Daniel couldn’t hold back his resentment. “If it wasn’t for you, our family wouldn’t be in this mess. If Nathalie refuses to see me, how am I
supposed to make a comeback?”
Camilla coughed weakly. She was so frail she looked like nothing but skin and bones. “Does she still refuse to see you? Did you try calling her?”
Daniel’s expression darkened. “She changed her number. I can’t reach her
at all.”
Camilla paled even further. Her eyes were dull and vacant as she stared Blankly ahead. After a long, agonizing pause, she whispered, “I’ll go find her. I’ll get on my knees and beg for her forgiveness…”
‘Forget it!” Daniel waved a dismissive hand. “The more you act like that, he more she’ll push back. And where exactly are you going to beg? You can’t even get near her!”
Camilla’s lips trembled. “Then… what can we do?”
Daniel let out a heavy sigh. “Felice did a lot to hurt her. Nathalie must despise her. If we find Felice and teach her a harsh lesson, then tell Nathalie about it, do you think that might soften her up?”
Camilla looked up at him. “Would… would that really work?”
We have to try something!” Daniel snapped. “Felice ruined us. It’s time ve collected some of what she owes us!”
Camilla lowered her eyes, remaining silent.
You contact her,” Daniel urged. “She trusts you. Ask her to meet up.”
I…” Camilla didn’t want to do it.
Daniel grabbed her shoulders, a manic gleam in his eyes. “Do you want to ive like this forever? Crammed into this tiny box? No money for your reatments? The people who used to kiss your feet now treat you like rash. Is this how you want to spend the rest of your life?”
Camilla hesitated, visibly swayed by his words.
Seeing this, Daniel softened his tone. “Just do it. Once Nathalie forgives Js, she’ll help us get our old life back. I can rebuild the business, and
