Chapter 481
He started to feel annoyed again. What was the point of this cold war between them in their current tense situation?
Her heart no longer had room for him.
So no matter what he did, she wouldn’t care.
Because of that, he came home especially early today.
His dark gaze locked onto her smiling face, and his heart gave a slight tremor.
He walked straight over. The moment she saw him, the smile on her face vanished.
Did she really hate seeing him that much?
A wave of frustration welled up from deep within, and Lance grabbed her wrist.
Nathalie’s beautiful brows furrowed. “What are you doing?”
She looked at him with her guard up.
As if he were some kind of terrifying monster.
Lance lowered his eyes slightly and said in a flat tone, “There’s a lead on that matter.”
Nathalie’s struggling paused. Before she could react, he pulled her up and dragged her toward the house.
Sophia stood nearby, her eyes fixed on Lance’s figure. She had wanted to greet him, but he hadn’t even noticed her.
From beginning to end, his attention was solely on Nathalie.
Feeling a pang of disappointment, Sophia lowered her eyes and bit her lip.
Leda watched their retreating backs and asked, “What are they doing?”
Sophia replied, “Mr. Adams and Nathalie trave something to talk about. Leda, do you want to keep walking?”
It took a few seconds for Leda to shake her head. “No, I’m tired. By the way, do you have your phone? Could I borrow it?”
Sophia nodded. “Of course. Who do you want to call?”
She pulled out her smartphone and handed it to the older woman.
Leda stared at the screen blankly for a long moment before shaking her head. “Never mind. I don’t remember the number.”
With a shaky breath, she stood up and began walking back toward the house.
Sophia hurried to support her. “Should I go ask Nathalie? Maybe she knows it?”
“No need,” Leda said, shaking her head again. “I won’t call. If I forgot, then I forgot. It couldn’t have been anyone important anyway.”
“Alright,” Sophia murmured.
Upstairs.
As soon as they entered the bedroom, Lance pinned Nathalie against the door, his scorching presence enveloping her.
Before she could even process what was happening, his fiery lips crashed over hers. It was a demanding, invasive kiss, claiming her entirely and leaving her breathless as his scent completely overwhelmed hers.
A muffled gasp escaped her.
Caught off guard by the aggressive assault, Nathalie groaned and instinctively tried to push him away.
