Chapter 501
Damaris said, “Let’s meet up and talk.”
“Okay, where are you? I’ll come to you.” Nathalie had to see Damaris to figure out exactly what was going on.
They agreed on a location. Nathalie quickly showered, changed clothes and drove straight to meet her.
Meanwhile, Lance had also been informed of the situation. He held his phone, listening to Bagot analyze the mess on the other end of the line.
‘Lance, I’ve thought it over carefully, and there’s only one way to shake c that lunatic. Nathalie definitely doesn’t want Damaris dragged into this mess, right? So I talked it over with Damaris. We’re going to get married t’ll solve the problem once and for all.”
_ance’s tone grew heavy. “If you know he’s a lunatic, have you thought about what he’ll do when he finds out you deceived him?”
Bagot was silent for two seconds before replying, “He wouldn’t actually steal my wife, would he? This is Cabinda, not his mercenary headquarters. He can’t just do whatever he wants here.”
_ance closed his eyes. “Bagot, this has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to get involved.”
‘Who says it has nothing to do with me? I’ve known Damaris for a long time. As her friend, I should help her out,” Bagot reasoned. “Besides, it’s just a fake marriage. Once this blows over, we’ll get a divorce. We can both go our separate ways and marry who we actually want.”
“Fine. As long as you’ve thought it through.”
Larice hung up the phone.

When they met, Damaris explained her thought process to Nathalie.
Nathalie rubbed her temples. “Does Bagot really not have feelings for
you?”
Damaris shook her head. “I` made absolutely sure. He doesn’t like me at all, which is why I felt comfortable considering his proposal.”
“But what does he get out of this?” Nathalie asked the exact question Damaris had pondered.
Damaris shrugged. “He said his family has been pressuring him to settl down. This will get them off his back, giving him a few years of peace.”
Nathalie frowned slightly. “How many years did you two agree on?”
‘Two,” Damaris replied. “In two years, Lawrence should have forgotten al
about me.”
‘Right.” Nathalie nodded, then asked again, “Are you absolutely sure abo his, Damaris? Marriage isn’t a game, and divorce isn’t always easy. Wha f something unexpected happens? What if he refuses to divorce you? You might end up in a situation just like mine.”
She was deeply worried and wanted to put the ugly possibilities on the
able first.
Damaris dismissed the concern. “He doesn’t love me. Why would he efuse a divorce?”
Nathalie nodded. “You have a point.”
It was just a partnership with no emotional foundation, so it shouldn’t get too complicated.
Still, she couldn’t help but sigh. “It’s just so sudden. Deciding to get married just like that.”
