He informed Lance that Octavia’s matters were settled.

He was bringing her straight to the Adams Estate.

Lance had previously told Bagot to head directly to the Estate the moment they had news, so they could hypnotize Felice and extract the

location of the antidote.

As Lance’s car pulled up, he saw a woman with short hair, wearing a sle black trench coat, standing to the side smoking.

She glanced up at him and let out a merciless scoff. “Word is, your wife dumped you?”

Lance: “…”

Bagot scrambled to intervene. “Octavia, please, do not bring that up. Let ust focus on business.”

Octavia smirked. “I think this is business. Come on, tell me, why did your wife dump you? Did you screw around behind her back? I met her once. She seemed like a bright, lovely girl, gorgeous too. What the hell did you do to piss her off?”

Lance stared at her with a face carved from stone. “Let’s handle this first. Then Bagot can give you all the details. He knows the whole story.”

Octavia raised an eyebrow, looking at Bagot in mock realization. “Oh, did your wife catch you two making out or something?!”

Lance: “…”

Bagot choked. “What the-Octavia, stop talking garbage! I am strictly into women. Completely straight. I literally have my wedding date set. Can you not make jokes like that?!”

Octavia smirked lazily. “With a wedding date rushed like that, God only knows what the real reason is.”

Bagot watched Lance’s face grow darker by the second. Knowing he wa about to get caught in the crossfire, he threw his hands up in surrender. “Octavia, I’m begging you. Let’s go inside and do the job. That’s Jacksor only son in there. Didn’t you have a thing for Jackson back in the day? You can’t let his bloodline die out, can you?”

Octavia’s face instantly dropped. She punched Bagot hard in the should ‘Do you have a death wish?”

‘Ow! Damn it!”

Bagot rubbed his arm. “Did you learn some dark magic overseas or something? Why do you hit so hard?”

Octavia crushed her cigarette under her boot and looked at Lance. “Let’s Jo.”

Lance’s expression finally thawed a fraction as he led the way into the

mansion.

Octavia studied him from behind, her eyes tracing the lines of his profile. She let out a wistful sigh. “You used to look a lot like your brother. What happened?”

Bagot shot a look that practically screamed ‘I told you so, but kept his mouth shut. The fear of his older sister was practically etched into his

DNA.

Lance asked, “How do you know he hasn’t changed?”

Octavia lowered her eyes. “He’ll never change. He’s frozen exactly as he was.”
