The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 561

"What did he say to you?" Lance looked at her, his expression having returned to normal.

Nathalie didn't hide anything. She explained the misunderstanding with Freddy.

Hearing this, Lance's gaze turned somber. "An apology isn't nearly enough," he said coldly.

He stepped closer to her. "If no one was here to protect you, can you even imagine what would have happened?"

Nathalie furrowed her brow slightly, remaining silent.

"The next time he comes around, I'm going with you," Lance stated.

"What are you going to do?" Nathalie looked up, confusion in her eyes.

A cold smirk tugged at the corners of Lance's mouth. "Make the Charles family bleed financially, of course. It's the least they can do to compensate for your emotional distress."

Nathalie was speechless. For a moment, he sounded like a ruthless bandit—the kind who would bare his fangs at the slightest opportunity and tear a piece of flesh from his enemies.

But on second thought, there was nothing wrong with his logic. He was standing up for her, fighting her battles.

Without another word, Nathalie walked into the villa.

Adelaide was holding Jasper in her arms, her warm, dry hand gently rubbing the little boy's back to soothe his anxiety.

Jasper's face was pale, his expression heartbreakingly lonely.

Seeing this, a heavy lump formed in Nathalie's throat. Jasper used to be so lively. Now, he was overwhelmingly depressed, his sickly and fragile state evoking profound pity.

"Jasper, do you want to go to the amusement park?" Nathalie stepped forward and asked gently.

Jasper looked at her, a brief spark lighting up his eyes before he lowered his head to look at his legs. "Auntie, I can't walk anymore."

Nathalie choked back a wave of sadness. "That's okay. We can carry you, or you can sit in your wheelchair while we go on the rides with you."

The light returned to Jasper's eyes. "Really?"

"Of course." Nathalie smiled, her gaze incredibly tender. "You can go on whatever ride you want."

Jasper nodded eagerly. "Okay, let's go together!"

She slept soundly through the night.

The next morning, after washing up, Nathalie came downstairs just as her phone rang. A glance at the screen showed it was Freddy.

"Hello?"

"Nathalie, do you have a moment?" Freddy's gentle voice came through the line.

"Yes, I do," she replied.

"Let's meet up then. I'll send you the location." Freddy spoke slowly. "I don't want to frighten Adelaide, so is it alright if we meet outside?"

Nathalie instantly understood. He was bringing Olivia to apologize.

She agreed readily. "Sure."

As she hung up, Lance walked over, adjusting his cuffs. "I'm going with you."
