Chapter 692
Chapter 692
A steaming bowl of instant noodles was brought out and placed in front
of Damaris.
It was simple, topped with a poached egg, sliced ham, and fresh greens.
The chef had timed it perfectly, the aroma rich and inviting.
Damaris stared blankly at it, her vision suddenly blurring. She sniffled, fighting back the urge to sob. Instead, she picked up her fork and began taking small, slow bites.
Tears continuously slipped from her cheeks, falling silently into the broth. Watching this, Lawrence felt as if an invisible hand had clamped around his heart, squeezing brutally. The sudden, agonizing pang rooted him to the spot.
She was hurting. She didn’t break down or scream; she just cried in complete, defeated silence.
Lawrence suddenly felt an overwhelming surge of violence.
He spun on his heel and marched out of the dining room, moving like a tempest. By the time he hit the hallway, his entire aura was practically radiating dark, predatory rage.
The crew and waitstaff passing by didn’t even dare to lift their heads to
look at him.
Damaris couldn’t care less.
Eating the hot noodles filled a tiny, desperate void inside her.
She ate every last bite and drank every drop of the broth.
Grabbing a napkin, she dabbed her tears, blew her nose, and let out a long, heavy sigh.
Chapter 692
Night finally fell-the time she dreaded the most.
The master bedroom was massive, dominated by a huge round bed draped in impossibly soft, high-end linens.
Damaris finished her shower and sat on the edge of the mattress,
hugging her knees to her chest. Her pale face was tense, her entire body rigid with anxiety and resistance.
When the door clicked open, she closed her eyes. What had to come, would come.
She looked up. Lawrence walked in wearing a crisp white dress shirt, the top buttons undone. Down near the hem, a fresh smear of blood stained
the fabric.
His strikingly handsome face carried a relaxed smile, and his blue eyes were as deep and consuming as the ocean.
“Was my baby waiting for me?”
Damaris frowned at him. “I thought you’d change your mind.”
“How could I ever do that?” Lawrence approached, leaning down to pull
her close.
Damaris dodged him instinctively. “You smell.”
Lawrence froze. He stopped trying to reach for her and took two steps back, his blue eyes darkening as they locked onto her. “I’m really looking forward to tonight, you know.”
“Be a good girl. I’ll take a shower and be right out.
He turned and headed into the bathroom.
The sound of running water started up, and Damaris pulled the heavy comforter tight around herself.
Tonight was going to be agonizing.
Chapter 692
When the bathroom door finally opened, the man walked out with nothing but a white towel slung low on his hips. Standing at a dominant six-foot-two, his broad shoulders tapered down to a lean waist, his heavy, defined musculature screaming of raw, explosive power.
Water dripped from his dark hair. He carelessly swiped a towel over his head, tossed it aside, and immediately lunged onto the bed. He pinned Damaris down, capturing her mouth in a bruising, possessive kiss.
“Mmph…”
