The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 724

Chapter 724

“Ten million dollars,” Lance said, his tone icy.

“Deal.”

This time, Neely didn’t hesitate. He actually laughed. “You could’ve just opened with that, you know.”

“You’ll sell out for anything if the price is right,” Lance warned. “Do you really think you can hold onto all that money?”

“Hey, I earned it, and I’m going to enjoy it. That’s all that matters to me,” Neely replied lightly.

Lance hung up without another word.

Unable to hold back, Aaron said, “He’s entirely driven by money. Bagot is supposed to be an acquaintance of his.”

“Even if my life were on the line, he wouldn’t lift a finger unless he saw a wire transfer,” Lance stated flatly.

Aaron frowned, deeply uncomfortable with Neely’s absolute lack of loyalty.

Did the man not have family or friends? Putting a price tag on every single interaction was just too incredibly bleak.

“Give me the rundown on yesterday’s progress,” Lance instructed.

“Right away, Boss.”

Meanwhile, Elara trailed behind Nathalie, grilling her about Damaris and Bagot.

When she learned that Damaris had only entered a fake marriage with Bagot to hide from Lawrence, her jaw practically hit the floor.

It took her a moment to process. “Fake marriage my foot. He was

definitely pushing his own agenda!”

Nathalie smiled faintly and nodded.

She had figured it out eventually. Bagot was entirely in love with Damaris. There were a hundred different ways to protect her, but he specifically chose the one that bound them together legally.

He had wanted their lives permanently intertwined.

But realizing it now felt tragically late.

If Bagot had confessed his feelings from the start, maybe things wouldn’t have devolved into such an absolute nightmare.

Elara crossed her arms, shaking her head. “I never would’ve guessed. The guy is a total hopeless romantic.”

She looked at Nathalie and sighed. “Why is it that everyone else gets a devoted romantic, and you got stuck with a first-class jerk?”

Nathalie gave her a deadpan look and typed on her phone.

“Feel free to judge other people, but please stop stabbing me in the heart.”

The robotic voice, combined with her utterly expressionless face, made Elara burst out laughing.

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry! I’ll shut up,” Elara said, raising her hands in

surrender.

Nathalie prepped some tapioca pudding and ladled it into bowls for Elara, Grandma Adelaide, and Jasper.

The little boy loved it. He cupped the bowl in his small hands, looking up at her with bright eyes. “Thank you, Auntie.”

After taking a big bite, he murmured, “Mom never made this for me.”

Hearing him bring up Felice caused Nathalie to frown.

“Eat up if you like it,” Elara interjected smoothly.
