Chapter 760
Nathalie offered a faint smile, pulling up her phone to type. “What do you want to eat tonight?”
Elara thought about it for a second. “Are there any night markets around here? You know, the kind with insane crowds, a million street food stalls, and just chaotic energy everywhere?
Nathalie pondered the suggestion, then nodded. She immediately called Nicol to come pick them up.
Once he arrived, she typed out the address of the city’s biggest night market for him.
Nicol grinned from the driver’s seat. “I’ve heard that place gets pretty wild, but I’ve never actually had the time to check it out.”
“Perfect,” Elara chirped. “Then we’re all going together tonight.”
She then turned to Nathalie, her head tilted in confusion. “Wait a minute, aren’t you this incredibly wealthy heiress? How do you even know about gritty, down-to-earth places like a night market?”
Nathalie rolled her eyes, her fingers flying across the keyboard. “I’m still a normal person. I lived a perfectly normal life.”
Elara chuckled sheepishly. “My bad. Guess I was stereotyping.”
Nathalie typed again. “Back when we were in college, Lance and I used to go all the time.”
Elara raised an eyebrow. “Sounds like you guys actually had a really great relationship back
then.”
“Yeah.”
Nathalie nodded.
Before they got married, their relationship had been wonderful. Felice James had barely been a blip on their radar.
She rarely went home during college, and whatever/minor friction she had with her own family felt like nothing compared to the nightmare that unfolded later.
Almost all her sweetest, happiest memories had happened during those university years.
Then they graduated. They got married. And shortly after, Jackson passed away. After that, absolutely everything fell apart…
Nathalie took a deep, shuddering breath, forcing herself to pull away from the suffocating memories of that pain.
Elara couldn’t help but sigh. “So even surviving a long-term relationship doesn’t guarantee a

happy ending? You can still get hit with all sorts of crazy disasters later. This honestly just solidifies my decision to never date anyone.”
Nathalie looked at her, her clear eyes perfectly serious as she typed. “Don’t think like that. Everyone’s path is different. What if the next person you meet ends up being the love of your life? Love is definitely worth trying. It can be really beautiful.”
Elara waved her hands dismissively. “Nope. I’m perfectly happy exactly the way I am right now. I refuse to let someone else dictate my emotions. If I did, I wouldn’t even be myself anymore.”
Nathalie smiled. Seeing how adamant Elara was, she decided to drop the subject.
As evening approached, the setting sun scattered fractured golden light across the horizon painting the sky with brilliant streaks of color. The night market was already packed, practically vibrating with energy. The overwhelming, mouth-watering scents of countless different foods slammed into their senses the second they walked in, making it impossible to choose just one thing.
Elara’s eyes practically sparkled the moment she stepped inside. She wanted a bite of absolutely everything she saw.
