The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 120

Chloe had no choice but to take the phone and force a smile. "Grandma."

Eleonora's voice was weak but brimming with affection. "Chloe, don't underestimate your injuries. Surface wounds still need proper care. That resort is perfect for recovery. Have Preston stay with you for a few days to nurse your health."

She glared at Preston through the screen. "Did you hear me? Push your work meetings back. Chloe's health comes first."

"Understood," Preston agreed without hesitation.

But as soon as the call ended, he looked at Chloe with a conflicted expression.

"Chloe, something came up. I have to head back tonight. How about you..."

"Fine, you can leave right now." Chloe cut him off, not even bothering to pretend she cared.

"Chloe," Preston studied her face, trying to read her mood. "It has nothing to do with Jenna. It's company business."

Chloe let out a dark, mocking laugh. "Even if you are rushing off to comfort Jenna, I don't care. Fostering your little romance while preparing for my exit—sure, it lacks basic decency, but when has morality ever stopped you two? Right?"

Preston's face darkened instantly.

Chloe didn't bother looking at his reaction. Knowing he was leaving actually made her want to stay and enjoy the hot springs for a while.

She hadn't been sleeping well lately, and her entire body ached with exhaustion. This was the perfect chance to unwind.

Ignoring Preston entirely, she turned and headed straight for the locker rooms.

After changing, she found a secluded, hidden pool and slowly waded into the steaming thermal water.

The natural, soothing heat enveloped her luminous skin, melting away the deep-seated fatigue in her bones as the thick mist gently cloaked her.

Before long, a wave of sleepiness washed over her.

Suddenly, the loud splash of water shattered the silence.

Chloe jolted awake. Her eyes darted forward, finding a silhouette directly across from her.

The steamy air blurred the harsh, sculpted lines of Preston's torso, his strikingly handsome face drifting in and out of the fog.

His dark, unreadable eyes locked onto her through the mist.

"Why are you still here?"

Chloe frowned, immediately standing up to leave.
