The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 130

"Or are you afraid he's going to tell Preston a secret he shouldn't?" Chloe added with a sharp edge.

"Of course not! Stop making up lies!" Jenna snapped, her words tumbling out in a panicked rush.

Meeting Preston's increasingly suspicious gaze, she forcefully swallowed the rest of her objections.

"I... I obviously care about my brother too. It's just... it's just..."

"Just what? Afraid he'll let something slip?" Chloe casually drove the knife deeper.

Jenna completely lost her mind. "Shut up!"

Preston suddenly turned to Chloe. "Come with me."

Jeremiah had received the punishment he deserved. Even if he had demands, he would have to apologize to Chloe first.

If this opportunity could ease the resentment and grievance building up inside Chloe, it was worth it.

Watching Jenna's sickly pale face, Chloe didn't refuse. She nodded.

"Fine."

She considered it payback for Jenna kicking Yuri earlier.

"What about you?" Chloe shot Jenna an icy glare. "Do you have the guts to come along?"

"He's my brother. Why wouldn't I?"

Jenna braced herself and hurried to follow them.

She didn't dare imagine how she would handle the fallout if Jeremiah started blabbing to Preston.

Before getting into the car, Jenna roughly shoved Chloe aside to claim the passenger seat, throwing a triumphant glare over her shoulder.

But Chloe remained entirely unfazed and simply slid into the back.

To Jenna's horror, Ken took the driver's seat, and Preston directly opened the rear door to sit next to Chloe.

Jenna's face twisted into an ugly grimace.

Chloe instinctively shifted closer to the door, maintaining her distance from him.

Chloe's demeanor remained flawlessly calm, which only made Jenna look like an unhinged clown.

Preston interjected. "The visitation time can't be changed. Jenna, if you're really sick, you don't have to force yourself."

Staring at him, Jenna had no choice but to grit her teeth. "I can hold on..."

Before long, the car pulled up to the gates of Kingsford Correctional Facility.

While they waited inside, the last bit of color visibly drained from Jenna's face, leaving her ghost-white.

Soon, a bald man in a prison uniform was escorted out by the guards.

In just a few short weeks, Jeremiah Gordon looked like a completely different person. He had withered away, his cheeks sunken and hollow.

The moment his dull, lifeless eyes locked onto Jenna, a bizarre, intense gleam lit up in them, piercing right through her.

Absolute terror seized Jenna's heart. She stared at him, her voice trembling.

"Jeremiah!"
