The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 131

"Jenna..."

Jeremiah Gordon's eyes were bloodshot. He was wired tight, looking as though he hadn't slept in days.

"You've been living the good life lately, haven't you?"

His voice was chilling. He stared at Jenna, dragging out each word.

Jenna trembled in fear. She gripped the phone receiver tightly as tears streamed down her face.

"Jeremiah, I haven't been doing well at all! I miss you so much... I think about when we were kids. Mom and Dad died so early, and you raised me and our other brother. You weren't just a brother, you were our parent..."

"I didn't mean to skip your trial that day. It was just because..."

Seeing her sobbing uncontrollably, Preston Hayes couldn't help but interject.

"Jenna fell down the stone steps that night. She fell into a coma and was rushed to the ICU. She still hasn't fully recovered."

Jeremiah's expression shifted, his gaze toward Jenna becoming unreadable.

"Is that so?"

He let out a low, bitter chuckle, heavy with resentment.

"My little sister is always so careless. Hurting herself, and hurting others too!"

Chloe Reed chimed in at the perfect moment. "Jeremiah, you asked to see Preston. If you have something to say, just say it."

Jeremiah's eyes turned ice-cold. "I'm only saying this to Mr. Hayes in private. The rest of you, get out."

Jenna flinched violently.

"Jeremiah!"

Terrified, she threw herself against the heavy iron bars, sobbing until she couldn't catch her breath.

"Jeremiah, don't worry about me. I'll work hard, I'll make a lot of money! When you get out, I'll take care of you!"

Jeremiah remained entirely unmoved. His face was stone-cold, ignoring her pleading gaze.

Jenna's heart hammered in her chest, but she had no choice. She followed Ken out of the room.

While waiting outside, she looked completely drained, her face ghastly pale.

Chloe took in her reaction, her suspicion growing by the second.
