After hanging up the phone, Chloe casually opened X.
Perhaps the algorithm was just that powerful, but a familiar face was immediately pushed to her feed.
The cover photo featured Jenna's painfully forced smile as she leaned her head against a man's shoulder.
The caption read: [A quiet, undisturbed couples' getaway to Kandaria. I can't believe you still remembered the spots I circled in my geography textbook back then. Thank you. After all the twists and turns, you came back to me.]
Chloe remained expressionless and swiped past it.
Yuri suddenly let out two soft whimpers.
Chloe put her phone down, stood up, and scooped the puppy into her arms.
"What's wrong? Do you want to go out and play?"
Yuri whimpered again.
Chloe smiled and carried the puppy downstairs.
Spring was approaching. Tender buds had already sprouted on the bare branches, decorating the world with vibrant life, and even the breeze carried a gentle warmth.
As soon as Chloe stepped outside, she saw over a dozen suited staff members leading a professional renovation crew deep into the residential complex.
Someone nearby whispered in discussion.
"Why the huge spectacle?"
"I heard a VIP is moving in. They bought out the premier estate with the best landscaping."
"Who has that kind of money?"
"I overheard them on the phone. I think his last name is Hayes."
Chloe frowned.
Yuri suddenly strained forward in her arms, acting as if he had spotted a familiar face.
She followed the direction of the staff and paused when she caught sight of a familiar figure.
A detached luxury villa stood quietly in the prime central location of the estate.
Framed by the clear blue sky and towering sycamore trees, the elegant French-style facade looked incredibly picturesque.
Preston stood in the courtyard, speaking in low tones to the lead designer.
"Send all the design proposals to me for approval first. My wife prefers warm, cozy tones."
Preston paused, an overwhelmingly tender smile filling his eyes.
He laced his fingers through hers, took a small step forward, and murmured, "Chloe, it's been a long time since you held my hand."
Chloe violently ripped her hand away from his grasp. "I can refund the rest of the breach of contract penalty to you. You are coming with me to the Civil Affairs Bureau right now."
"Alright," Preston agreed with unnatural ease. "Keep the money. Once you look at the house with me, I'll go with you."
Fearing she wouldn't believe him, he dialed Ken's number right in front of her, his tone flat. "Book us an appointment at the Civil Affairs Bureau in an hour."
Ken was stunned. "What? Mr. Hayes, you..."
Preston replied mildly, "I'm going to finalize the divorce with Chloe."
Ken's voice went stiff. "...Understood."
Hanging up, Preston looked at Chloe and chuckled. "Feel better now?"
Chloe stared at him, unable to read what game he was playing.
Without a word, Preston grabbed her hand and pulled her into the sprawling villa.
She had no idea when he had purchased the property. The foundational construction was already finished, and the renovation team was busy at work inside.
