The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 242

She had to admit, the reason this villa had remained unsold on the market had absolutely nothing to do with its layout or location.

The moment they stepped through the door, Chloe was taken aback by the breathtaking view.

The azure ocean and endless sky stretched out before them, and even the breeze carried a soothing, therapeutic scent.

Preston noted her reaction, his smile deepening as he led her through the rooms by the hand.

"This is the living room. You love reading on the sofa, and right outside is the best ocean view in Sterling Bay. It's perfect for when you need to rest your eyes."

"This is the master bedroom. Great lighting, isn't it?"

"The small room next to the master is for me. If you ever get mad at me, I'll just move in there so you don't have to go through the trouble of relocating."

"Isn't this one adorable? The natural light is great here too. It's for the baby. If it's a girl, she'll definitely be as beautiful as you. I put in a princess bed and a walk-in closet. She'll love it."

"I even prepared a room for Yuri. It's stocked with all his favorite toys and treats."

His voice was impossibly soft, his handsome face looking infinitely gentle in the sunlight. A permanent smile graced his lips as he earnestly mapped out their future.

"Chloe, I originally wanted to surprise you, but I didn't expect you to find out on your own."

"It doesn't matter, though. As long as you like it, I can always prepare other surprises."

Walking up to the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, Preston reached out and pulled her into an embrace from behind.

Hidden from Chloe's view, the gentle smile on his face grew rigid. A subtle trace of nervous caution crept into his eyes.

"So, Chloe... do you like it?"

Chloe didn't push him away, nor did she return the hug. She simply looked at him with calm, lifeless eyes, devoid of any emotional ripples.

"The house is nice."

"It makes a perfect marital home for you. As for the children, Jenna would be more than happy to give them to you."

Preston's smile froze. Acting as if he hadn't heard a word, he smoothly changed the subject.

"This house is big enough. When the time comes, we can bring Eleonora over to live with us. How does that sound?"

"Also, the hospital messaged me. They said my mother has been showing much stronger reactions to outside stimuli lately. There are even signs she might wake up."

"Chloe, don't you feel like everything is finally moving in a positive direction?"

Preston remained expressionless. Taking a long stride, he followed her into the vehicle.

Chloe said, "To the Civil Affairs Bureau."

Ken looked over at Preston.

Preston replied, "Listen to my wife."

Ken nodded. "...Understood."

He said nothing else, driving to the Civil Affairs Bureau with a heavy heart the entire way.

Even as she sat in front of the processing window, Chloe couldn't help but suspect Preston was harboring some ulterior motive.

Yet a second later, she found the thought completely laughable.

He simply didn't want to keep up the act anymore.

Once they were divorced, he could rightfully marry Jenna.
