The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 258

Linda was blind with fury, taking all her resentment out on Jenna. Her strength was terrifying; even when the police stepped in to pry her off, she absolutely refused to let go.

A huge chunk of Jenna's hair was brutally ripped from her scalp, and her clothes were left in tatters. Feeling incredibly wronged and furious, she shrank into Preston's arms, crying so hard her whole body shook as she gasped for air.

"Preston... Preston..."

"Chloe must have fed her mother some lies, otherwise why would she accuse me of something like this for no reason..."

Watching this, Linda was so enraged she lunged forward again.

"You shameless little bitch! You dare throw yourself into my son-in-law's arms!"

She then turned and glared at Chloe in sheer disappointment, her voice shrill.

"And you're totally useless! What's the point of having a pretty face? She doesn't have a single thing on you, and you still let her steal your man!"

The officers immediately stepped in, twisting Linda's arms behind her back to cuff her, barking sternly, "Shut it! No more causing trouble!"

The officer then looked at Preston, his tone grim. "All of you, come down to the station!"

Jenna's eyes instantly went red with panic. Still choking on her sobs, she gripped Preston tightly. "This has nothing to do with Preston! You can't take him!"

She clung to him for dear life, refusing to let go.

"I'm fine," Preston said, prying her hands off and looking at Chloe.

The utter apathy on Chloe's face made his heart sink, but he still forced his voice to soften.

"Chloe, let me handle this. I'll have someone take you home to rest."

Chloe simply stared at him, her face completely blank.

Preston added, "You don't need to worry about me..."

Chloe finally spoke. "Are you two done with this little performance?"

Preston frowned.

Chloe let out a small laugh. "I really find it hilarious. You're all acting so helpless, but didn't you bring this trouble upon yourselves?"

"Chloe, how can you say something so heartless?" Jenna stared in utter disbelief.

"Who asked you to come here? And who asked you to throw punches? You think you're helping me, but all you've done is dump a massive pile of trouble in my lap. Preston, isn't playing the martyr what you do best?"

Jenna's shrill voice echoed behind her.

Chloe didn't break her stride, nor did she turn her head.

She had handled this situation perfectly well on her own.

From now on, as long as she wanted to stay hidden, Linda would never be able to find her.

She had never once asked Preston to intervene.

He brought all of this upon himself.

As Preston watched Chloe's silhouette disappear down the hall, it felt as though a giant hand was crushing his heart, squeezing tighter and tighter until it threatened to tear his entire chest apart.

A voice in his head whispered to him.

Preston...

It seems Chloe really doesn't want you anymore.

Even she doesn't want you anymore.
