Just then, a voice suddenly shrieked.
"Preston! Calm down! Stop hitting him, you're going to kill him!"
Jenna sprinted over and desperately threw her arms around Preston's arm.
She shot a venomous glare at Chloe, screaming hysterically. "Why are you just standing there like a block of wood? Don't you know how to stop him?"
"This has nothing to do with Chloe."
Preston's voice was gravelly as he finally pulled back. Only then did he turn and stumble toward Chloe.
"Chloe, are you okay? Don't be afraid. I'm here..."
Chloe took a step back, dodging him.
Preston's blood-stained hand froze mid-air. His dark eyes locked onto her, swirling with unreadable emotions.
Ken arrived right on time with a team, quickly clearing the area. They made sure everyone deleted the videos from their phones and completely locked down the scene.
In the corner, Linda stared at the half-dead Leon on the floor. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed in a heap, wailing at the top of her lungs.
She glared at Chloe, whatever fleeting shred of pity she'd felt earlier completely vaporized, leaving nothing but endless hatred.
"Chloe, what is your heart made of?"
"It's one thing that you don't care if I live or die, but now you bring a gang of thugs to do this to Leon? Wasn't killing your father enough? Are you only going to be satisfied when you've cursed all your relatives to death?"
"Shut your mouth!"
Preston's face was terrifyingly cold. His tall frame took a step forward, completely shielding Chloe behind him.
"Who gave you permission to come looking for her again? Did you really not consider the consequences of breaking our agreement?"
Linda's heart shuddered, and she sobbed pitifully. "If you hadn't given Leon that massive sum of money, he wouldn't have gotten conned into gambling! He wouldn't be drowning in debt and driven into a dead end!"
Like a madwoman, she lunged forward without warning, grabbing a fistful of Jenna's hair and screeching.
"You little tramp! What the hell are you saying? You're the one who seduced my son-in-law, aren't you?"
Staring at Jenna, everything suddenly made perfect sense to Linda.
Why would Chloe ever willingly ask for a divorce?
Preston must have cheated, and this woman was the homewrecker who stole him!
Tears sprang to Jenna's eyes from the excruciating pain. She shrieked, "Let go of me! Get off! Who seduced your son-in-law? Preston and I are just friends!"
"Friends, my ass! You cheap slut! You can fool a man, but you think you can fool me?"
"Do you think I didn't see you practically throwing yourself at him a second ago? Your eyes are as cheap as they come! Don't think I can't see right through your filthy little schemes!"
