The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 264

Chloe glared at him, her entire body shaking. "Preston, are you out of your goddamn mind?!"

"We're at this point, and you're still asking what I want? You still think I'm playing some kind of game with you?"

"I don't know if you're playing dumb or if you genuinely don't get it, but let me spell it out for you. The only thing I want right now is to get that divorce certificate, sever all ties with you, and get you out of my life for good!!"

Her body rejected him even more violently than she had anticipated.

The second he touched her, her mind involuntarily flashed to Jenna's sickening face and the cloying, suffocating scent of her perfume that had clung to him.

It was enough to make her stomach turn.

Preston's pitch-black eyes fixed on her. "Sever all ties?" he repeated in a low whisper.

He let out a dark chuckle. Once the forced gentleness peeled away, the raw obsession and volatility beneath were impossible to hide.

"Chloe, do you think those words are just that easy to throw around?"

"Do you honestly believe you could ever cut ties with me in this lifetime?"

Chloe spat back, "Preston, you seriously need to get your head checked!"

Despite her insults, Preston wasn't angry. The sharp lines of his nose and brow cast heavy shadows over his eyes, radiating an overwhelming dominance.

"You are Mrs. Hayes. You saved my life, and I saved yours. We've been hopelessly tangled up for a long time. You can't just undo that."

"And now you want to tell me we're cutting ties?"

"Where was this energy before? Why did you say all those things to me back then? Why did you risk your life to save me?"

"Psycho!" Chloe refused to look at him anymore and stormed straight toward the house.

Hearing the argument outside, Yuri had already started barking frantically from within.

Following the sound, Chloe rushed into the master bedroom.

"Yuri, it's okay, I'm taking you home..."

Just as she scooped the puppy into her arms, a brutal force slammed her against the wall from behind. A burning, solid body immediately pressed her in.

It all happened too fast.

Feeling her stop struggling, Preston assumed she was finally relenting. He slowly pulled back.

The corner of his mouth curved up, his voice soft and coaxing. "Chloe, I'll spend the rest of my life with you and this ugly little dog. How does that sound?"

"Never."

Chloe's voice shattered the illusion, sounding incredibly hoarse.

"What?" Preston froze.

The pleas he had lined up died on his tongue the moment he met her freezing, deadened eyes.

A terrifying anxiety began to spread rapidly through his chest.

Chloe stared straight at him, enunciating every single word.

"I will never allow a child of mine to be born into a family like this."

"Because, Preston, you don't deserve it!"
