The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 265

Something inside Preston's eyes shattered.

Her words were a brutal blow, far heavier than anything he could withstand.

"Chloe, do you have any idea what you're saying?"

His voice was raw and trembling. "I don't deserve it... Then who does? Quentin?"

"Shut up!"

Chloe's eyes were blazing red as she glared at him. "Preston, just because you're filthy doesn't mean everyone else is as disgusting as you!"

"The two of you were wrapped around each other, and you still have the nerve to claim there's nothing going on?"

Preston's temper finally flared. "Chloe, I can tolerate a lot, but my patience has limits."

"To hell with your tolerance!"

Chloe couldn't hold back the curse. She kicked him hard in the shin and bent down to scoop up the frantic Yuri from the floor.

But the next second, a strong arm snatched the dog away before she could reach him.

Chloe gasped, lunging to grab him back. "What are you doing! Give him back to me!"

Preston's voice was absolute ice. "This is my house. Get out."

Watching Yuri whimper pitifully, Chloe trembled from head to toe, on the absolute verge of breaking down.

"What the hell do you want from me?!"

Preston ignored her and dialed the property manager's number.

Moments later, the manager rushed over with a security team. Seeing Chloe, he looked entirely out of his depth and spoke carefully.

"Ms. Reed..."

He cleared his throat. "You and Mr. Hayes are both heated right now. It's late. Why don't you head back and rest, and maybe you two can talk this out calmly tomorrow?"

"That's my dog! You know it is!" Chloe's voice cracked.

Preston held Yuri tight, turned his back, and dropped one final, freezing sentence.

"Until you can bring me proof, I am not giving him to you."

Standing at six-foot-two, he commanded the space with a sharp, overwhelming authority. His aura was clean and lethal, a stark contrast to the dark, unpredictable gloom clinging to Preston.

"Mr. Hayes, what exactly is your mindset when you treat her like this?"

Preston barked a humorless laugh, meeting his gaze head-on. "Mr. Shaw, are you interrogating me?"

"By what right do you interfere in the affairs of me and my wife?"

Quentin stared him down. "Making her sad, making her suffer... Does that bring you joy?"

Preston's eyes went dangerously dark. "Is this how you spend your free time? Driving wedges into our marriage?"

"Mr. Shaw, I'll admit your identity caught me off guard, but that does not give you a free pass to cross the line in front of me."

Quentin didn't even flinch. "Preston, if you were half a man, you wouldn't be treating her like this."

"What happens between my wife and I is absolutely none of your business!"

The inexplicable rage festering inside Preston finally boiled over. "Don't think I don't know the truth. That dog doesn't belong to your friend. It was nothing but a pathetic excuse for you to scheme your way closer to Chloe."
