Chloe took a small spoonful, taking a sip before smiling. "It's delicious. You should have some too, Grandma."
Eleonora immediately broke into a comfortable smile. "Alright."
Seeing this, Rose chimed in with a laugh. "It always works when you're here, Mrs. Hayes. I haven't seen Eleonora this happy in a long time."
"Why bring that up now?" Eleonora softly scolded.
"Because you miss her, so of course she should know," Rose replied. "You also said before that you need to get your health in order so you can travel abroad soon."
Chloe realized what she meant and looked at Eleonora.
Eleonora met her gaze, a profound look in her eyes.
"Travel abroad?" Preston caught onto the conversation. "Grandma, why the sudden interest in going overseas?"
"It's nothing," Eleonora replied. "Just a passing thought."
Preston seemed intrigued. "Where do you want to go? The Republic of Veritas?"
Hearing "The Republic of Veritas", the color drained from Chloe's face.
Preston didn't notice and continued, "How about next week? Chloe and I didn't get to properly enjoy ourselves last time. We can all go together and make up for it."
He immediately reached for his phone to call Ken and book the tickets.
"There's no need." Eleonora stopped him just in time. "My old bones can't handle the journey. I was just talking."
"Then whenever you feel like it, Chloe and I will take you." Preston put his phone down and shot Chloe a subtle glance. "Does that sound good?"
Chloe remained silent.
Eleonora quickly changed the subject. She reached out to hold Chloe, inspecting her closely. "Eat a bit more. Why do I feel like you've lost even more weight since last time?"
Chloe shook her head. "Don't worry about me, Grandma."
Eleonora's eyes suddenly grew a little red. "Chloe, if anything is bothering you, don't keep it bottled up. You have us. Tell us, and we can share the burden."
Chloe looked at her, feeling the warmth of Eleonora's hands. A bitter feeling swirled in her chest.
Preston took in the scene, finding it inexplicably grating.
"So, we should just..."
Before she could finish, panicked shouts from a maid outside abruptly cut her off.
"Mr. Hayes, slow down! Please don't upset yourself!"
Furious footsteps approached rapidly, barging straight into the dining room.
Percival Hayes already had a dark expression, but as his gaze swept the room and landed on Chloe, his face turned frighteningly cold.
He glared at her, his voice low and menacing:
"What are you doing here? You still have the nerve to show your face? Are you here to beg for money?"
His disgust and hostility were completely unfiltered.
Eleonora instantly flared up. "Percival, are you out of your mind!"
Percival's chest heaved as he roared back, "Why don't you ask her what she's done!"
