The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 299

"No one. It's late, you should get some rest."

Eleonora tugged Percival upstairs, desperate to drop the subject.

But Percival was practically glowing, looking ready to broadcast the news to the world.

"It's Caroline Monet! She's back! Everyone on Twitter is sharing it. She's making a comeback!"

"Caroline Monet?" Preston murmured, lost in thought.

Eleonora frowned. "It's probably just her PR team running the account. Don't waste your energy on it. Go to bed!"

Percival protested. "Impossible! It has to be her!"

He was in a spectacularly good mood, practically radiating satisfaction. "Our luck has been fantastic lately! Double blessings! I feel ten years younger!"

It was painfully obvious what the "double blessings" referred to.

Preston's face instantly darkened.

Percival noticed the shift, his gaze turning icy.

"Preston, enough is enough. Given the situation, this is the best possible outcome for both of you."

"Once the divorce certificate is finalized, you will marry Jenna."

"Grandpa," Preston's voice was frigid. "You should go to bed."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Percival's brow furrowed angrily. "Don't tell me you're still obsessing over that Chloe Reed? Don't think I don't know you've been tearing the city apart looking for her! You've completely neglected Jenna! Preston, what exactly are you trying to do?"

"My affairs are my own business!"

Preston's dark eyes churned with hostility. "And no one has the right to interfere!"

With that, he spun around and stormed out of the house.

"You!!" Percival's chest heaved with rage.

He turned to Eleonora. "Look at him! That Chloe Reed ruined him! Now he dares to speak to me like that!"

"You brought this on yourself!"

Eleonora glared at him, marched into her room, and slammed the door shut with a loud crash.

Percival ran after her, pounding on the wood. "Hey! Didn't you say you were going to help me read about Caroline? Why did you lock the door?"

In the main courtyard.

Preston stood under the moonlight. The streetlamp stretched his tall silhouette, casting an aura of indescribable gloom and loneliness.

"Which is it?"

"...I suppose I'm off."

"Great. Then speaking purely personally, let me ask you a question..."

Belle was trying to fish for information on Preston's state of mind.

She thought for a second. "Tomorrow is the weekend. Are you off? I want to buy you dinner."

"Huh? Dinner?" Ken froze.

Belle pressed, "So, are you free?"

Ken replied, "I have to work overtime during the day tomorrow, but in the even—"

Belle interrupted, "Working overtime on what?"

Ken: "..."

Belle: "You said you were off the clock! Is there something you can't tell me?"

"By the way, have you found Chloe? Seriously, she clearly doesn't treat me like a friend, disappearing without even a warning..."
