The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 310

"It's not to cure your hearing," Quentin said. "It's just to relieve the tinnitus. That way, we can make sure your right ear doesn't get affected."

Chloe's hand paused. She didn't push him away again. "Thank you."

Quentin turned and grabbed a brand-new medical kit from the backseat.

Chloe noticed that the seal on the box had just been broken. The moxa sticks, cotton swabs, and acupressure pens inside were all perfectly arranged in their original places, not messy in the slightest.

"Sit down." He pointed to the sofa.

Chloe sat on the edge of the sofa, angling her body slightly.

Quentin walked up behind her.

She felt his presence draw near, and her body unconsciously tensed for a second.

His long, elegant fingers gently lifted the hair scattered over her shoulders, his movements incredibly light.

"I can do it myself," Chloe said.

"Don't move," his voice drifted down from above.

His fingers combed through her hair with clean, efficient movements. His fingertips occasionally brushed against the shell of her ear, and he quickly tied her hair back.

"You seem very experienced at this," Chloe noted, a bit surprised.

"Yeah." Quentin lowered his eyes. "I used to tie someone's hair a lot."

But that was many, many years ago.

He moved his hand away from behind her ear, pressing his thumb into a spot on the side of her neck.

Chloe's breath hitched, and she frowned slightly.

Quentin's pressure was perfect—not too light, not too heavy, hitting the exact pressure point.

"Tell me if it hurts."

"It doesn't..."

Quentin didn't stop, moving to the other side with the exact same technique.

Chloe closed her eyes.

She couldn't help but notice the shadow they cast on the floor—his shadow entirely enveloped hers, making it look as though he were embracing her from behind.

The air grew very still.

So quiet that she could hear the faint crackling sound of the moxa stick being lit.

Then, a warm breath brushed near the back of her ear.

She instinctively hunched her shoulder.

Quentin's hand stopped immediately.

She turned and walked toward Quentin's villa. Just as she raised her hand to ring the doorbell, sounds drifted out from inside.

"It's normal for it to hurt. Just tell me, don't hold it in."

"It's... fine. Ah..."

"Are you that sensitive to pain? I'll be gentler."

"..."

Isabella's hand froze mid-air, the color draining from her face in an instant.

That voice...

She turned abruptly, rushing back to her car and slamming the door shut.

"Drive."

"Look into her. Find out exactly who this Chloe Reed is."

"Do it right now!"

She was trembling all over, her eyes red. Every ounce of her poised elegance completely shattered in that moment.

The assistant looked it up quickly and said frantically, "Isabella, this Chloe Reed is Chinese, and she's already married..."
