Isabella gave a slight, polite nod, though her gaze discreetly flicked over to Chloe.
Chloe pretended not to notice, keeping her head down as she flipped through her documents.
Right then, a commotion erupted outside.
A sleek black luxury van rolled to a slow stop right in front of the institute.
Bodyguards stepped out first, securing the perimeter before a figure finally emerged from the vehicle.
When Chloe got a clear look at the person, her brow furrowed in disbelief.
"Who is that? She looks so young. What's her connection to Dr. Sharpe?"
"She must be Dr. Sharpe's new assistant..."
"Wow, she must be incredibly talented..."
The moment Jenna Cameron stepped out of the car, she popped open a parasol and hurried forward, fawning obsequiously.
"Dr. Sharpe, please watch your step. Let me block the UV rays for you."
Liana stepped out of the vehicle, staring straight ahead as she spoke coldly.
"You are my assistant, not my maid."
"Put that away and focus on your job."
Jenna's face stiffened. She cursed the old dinosaur in her head but kept a plastered smile on her face as she hurried after her.
However, just as she stepped onto the stairs and lifted her head, her eyes locked onto someone.
She blurted out in shock, "Chloe? What the hell are you doing here?"
Everyone's gaze immediately snapped to Chloe, shocked that she actually knew someone in Dr. Sharpe's inner circle.
Chloe didn't even look at Jenna, merely offering Liana a respectful nod.
A sudden thought struck Jenna, and her face contorted in absolute fury.
No wonder!
No wonder Preston had rushed off out of the country so abruptly a few days ago!
Could he have come here looking for Chloe?!
This bitch was too cunning. Acting like she wanted a divorce on the surface, while secretly pulling some manipulative stunt behind her back!
Jenna raised her voice, feigning loud, theatrical shock.
"Isn't this the Sterling Interpretation Institute? Since when do they let deaf people become interpreters these days?"
The entire lobby gasped in horror.
They had assumed the two were friends, never expecting this woman to be so viciously cruel in public.
