The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 331

"Right." Chloe's lips curved into a faint, cool smile. "Then I wish you the best of luck in advance, Ms. Sylvain."

With that, she turned on her heel and walked straight into the elevator.

Andrea smugly tried to follow her, but the elevator doors suddenly slid shut right in her face, nearly clipping her nose.

"You!!"

She stumbled back a few steps, her face turning livid.

"She's practically disabled! I don't know what she's acting so arrogant about!"

Andrea muttered a few curses before turning back to Isabella, slapping on a fawning smile.

"You're truly the best, Ms. Sylvain. When Dr. Sharpe meets you tomorrow, she's going to be absolutely blown away."

Isabella's expression remained aloof, acting as if she hadn't even heard the flattery.

"I won't be helping you with your evaluation next month."

Her tone was light, but it ruthlessly exposed Andrea's hidden agenda.

Andrea's smile froze, feeling as though a bucket of ice water had been dumped over her head.

"Ms. Sylvain..."

Isabella ignored her, stepping into another elevator.

Andrea stood rooted to the spot, her face shifting through various shades of pale and red, grinding her teeth in furious resentment.

She didn't need her anyway!

Once she saw Dr. Sharpe tomorrow, she refused to believe the doctor wouldn't help her, if only out of respect for Caroline Monet!

That afternoon, right as she was getting off work, Chloe ran straight into Preston Hayes in the lobby.

She instinctively frowned, a wave of intense irritation rising in her chest.

But he acted as though he hadn't even seen her, brushing right past her shoulder.

From start to finish, he didn't even cast a single glance her way.

Chloe paused for a brief moment.

Then, she felt a wave of profound relief.

Once she got home, she dove straight into her serious preparations.

Later that evening, she tried calling Belle again.

This time, she initiated a video call.

It was instantly rejected, followed by another text:

[Chloe, just leave me a message if you need something. I'm out right now and really can't pick up.]

Chloe stared at the screen, her brow creasing. [What exactly are you busy with?]

Belle: [Just work stuff.]

Chloe: [Did you manage to pick up that thing you said you'd get for me last time?]

A crying-laughing emoji popped up on the screen.
