The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 357

"Ms. Reed, I believe there's been a misunderstanding."

On the other end of the line, Julian's voice was laid-back and infuriatingly smug, laced with mocking amusement.

"Your friend goes missing, and you think that has something to do with me?"

Chloe's knuckles turned stark white as she squeezed the phone. "Julian, do you really think I can't track you down?"

"Are you angry?" Julian chuckled. "Don't be so aggressive. I could help you find her."

"Tomorrow morning, five o'clock. Come alone. Just you."

"I just want to catch up, intimately."

After hanging up, the slimy, sickening sensation of his voice lingered in her ears, refusing to dissipate.

Chloe muttered a curse under her breath.

Simultaneously, she cursed Preston out in her mind.

If it weren't for him, Julian wouldn't be this dead set on harassing her.

Just then, Quentin strode over.

"Chloe, we found her."

They rushed to the hospital together.

Belle was sitting propped up in the hospital bed, looking disheveled and covered in dirt. She had lost a noticeable amount of weight. When she saw Chloe, her eyes went wide with shock.

"Chloe? Weren't you in The Republic of Veritas? What are you doing here?"

Chloe threw her arms around her, hugging her tightly.

"Where the hell have you been these past few days?"

Just the mention of it made Belle want to scream.

"I... while investigating John, I found someone who knew his hiking route. I was planning to ambush him on the trail, but I ended up losing my phone."

She made a tragic face. "And then I got lost in the woods. If I hadn't taken that wilderness survival course years ago, I'd probably be a rotting corpse by now!"

"That guy you mentioned," Chloe stared intensely at her. "Was it Julian Sterling?"

Belle gasped. "You know him??"

"Ugh, if I knew that, I wouldn't have gone through all that suffering for nothing!"

Chloe's expression turned grim.

Upon learning that Chloe and Quentin had flown all the way back just to find her, Belle cried tears of profound gratitude. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep after the nurses gave her an IV drip.
