The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 361

The rain came down in sheets.

"Stop the car."

"Ms. Reed, what is it?" The bodyguard hit the brakes and looked at Chloe.

"Turn around," Chloe ordered. "We need to go back and check."

The downpour was too intense.

The storm was ruining her plans.

Down in the pit, Julian was leaning against the slick mud wall. The freezing water had already risen past his chest.

Soaked to the bone, the cold was gnawing at him, draining the color from his face.

Just then, a heavy piece of wood dropped into the hole.

"Grab on!"

Julian looked up and saw that familiar face peering over the edge.

Chloe was drenched. Her dark hair clung to her radiant complexion, and raindrops slid down her smooth skin.

She looked like a rain-kissed rose, cold, striking, and untouchable.

"What are you staring at? Grab the rope!"

Chloe tossed a thick coil of rope down to him.

Julian's lips curved into a smile as he took his time wrapping the coarse fibers around his hand.

"You actually came back."

Chloe and the bodyguards hauled him up together.

She cursed inwardly, forcing a look of concern onto her face.

"Are you alright? I was running around trying to find help, which is why it took so long."

Julian hoisted himself up. His leg seemed badly injured, making it difficult to stand.

Yet, he acted as if he couldn't feel the pain, merely smiling at Chloe.

"It's fine. I understand."

"After all, you only wanted to teach me a lesson. You wouldn't actually kill anyone."

Chloe's expression shifted slightly, ignoring his comment. "You should call an ambulance."

Julian replied lightly, "You took my phone."

"..."

Chloe looked at his utterly unbothered expression, pulled his phone from her pocket, and handed it over.

"I found it. Here."

"Mhm."

Julian reached out with difficulty and took it.

His dark, intense gaze locked onto hers as a smile touched his lips.

"Regardless, I'm glad you came back."
