The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 374

Rhonda didn't wait for him to finish and hung up the phone directly, her chest heaving violently with anger.

She knew, of course, that this incident wouldn't result in any substantial punishment for Jenna.

But if she backed down, wouldn't she become an accomplice in hurting her own father?

Rhonda slowly looked up at Chloe.

"Ms. Reed, you and Mr. Hayes..."

She hesitated for a moment. "If you don't mind me asking, are you close?"

Belle jumped in first, "Not close, there's nothing good to be close about with him."

Rhonda looked a bit disappointed and let out a soft 'Oh.' "Alright."

Chloe looked at her. "What's wrong?"

Rhonda lowered her eyes, her voice dropping.

"I originally thought, if you were close with Preston, maybe you could talk to him."

"If he steps in to help Jenna, he might get her off the hook."

"If possible, could you talk to him? He was my father's student, after all. Could he just stay out of this?"

Chloe fell silent.

She wanted to say that her words carried no weight with Preston.

Once, even when she was nearly burned to death by Jenna, Preston had unhesitatingly chosen to force her to sign a letter of forgiveness.

He protected Jenna without any principles, without any bottom line.

Why would he listen to her?

But seeing Rhonda's helpless eyes, the words of refusal simply wouldn't come out.

She nodded. "I'll talk to him."

"That's wonderful." Rhonda breathed a sigh of relief, her eyes turning red again. "Thank you, Ms. Reed."
