Chloe hung up immediately.
He didn't call back, but soon after, Rhonda received a call from the police station asking them to head over right away.
Rhonda frowned. "Right now? Officer, it's too late right now, can't we talk about it tomorrow?"
The officer sounded troubled but insisted, "Right now, please cooperate with us."
"Alright." Rhonda had no choice but to agree.
She told Chloe and Belle, "You guys rest, I'll go by myself."
Belle said, "How could we let you go alone?"
Chloe had already grabbed her jacket. "Let's go."
At that moment, the faint sound of an engine arose, and a Rolls-Royce parked outside.
Belle looked at the luxury car and said warily, "Close the door, Preston is here!"
The next second, Quentin Shaw stepped out of the car.
Belle said awkwardly, "Mr. Shaw, it's you. You scared me..."
Quentin went straight to open the car door. "Get in."
Rhonda said gratefully, "Thank you, Mr. Shaw."
Quentin also opened the passenger door for Chloe.
"Careful."
Chloe looked at him, curious as to why he always managed to appear at the most crucial moments.
Sometimes she really suspected Quentin was bound to some superhero system—wherever he was needed, he would appear.
As Quentin turned the steering wheel, he said, "Preston went to the police station. This time, he's probably going to pressure us."
Rhonda's eyes dimmed, full of disappointment.
Belle said angrily, "I knew it! That scumbag is definitely going to help that toxic woman, he's absolutely brainless!"
She opened her phone and suddenly gasped.
"How did Jenna's negative comments get suppressed so fast! And a bunch of people are starting to dig up dirt on Rhonda and Mr. Goodwin! They're actually shifting the blame, this is too much!"
Rhonda took the phone. Looking at those indiscriminate comments, her eyes reddened again.
"It's one thing for them to insult me... My dad was honest his whole life, and they're smearing him like this after his death. They aren't even human..."
Chloe took the phone from her hand and turned it off. "Relax, we have evidence. We're going to win."
When they arrived at the Sterling Bay Police Department, Preston was waiting outside.
In the pitch-black night, a cold wind swept past.
