The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 379

"What is it?" Preston Hayes answered.

Percival Hayes’s voice was thick with suppressed anger. "How could you treat Jenna like this? After everything that happened, you just let Ken handle it instead of being there to protect her?"

Preston picked up his glass. "Grandpa, she made a mistake."

Jenna Cameron's sudden sobs echoed through the receiver.

"Grandpa, please stop. Preston is right. No matter the reason, I messed up and I need to pay the price. I accept it. It’s what I deserve..."

Percival cut her off. "Preston, knowing Jenna the way you do, do you honestly believe she’d do something like that?"

"You know how kindhearted she is. I absolutely refuse to believe that someone with such a Great Philanthropist heart could commit such a malicious act!"

Jenna continued to cry, sounding utterly pitiful.

"You need to come back right now and comfort her," Percival demanded. "She's terrified."

Preston suddenly spoke up. "Jenna has indeed been through a lot."

"Perhaps Sterling Bay isn't the right fit for her. Tomorrow, I'll have her transferred to the branch office."

"Preston, what are you saying?" Jenna's voice broke in utter disbelief.

Preston had already hung up.

He downed the rest of his drink in one gulp, stood up, and headed for the door.

Ken opened the car door for him. "Mr. Hayes, heading back to Oceanview Heights?"

"No, to The Crestwood Estates," Preston replied.

He paused. "Tomorrow, process the paperwork for Jenna's transfer to the branch office."

"Understood," Ken said, a hint of surprise in his tone. "And her position..."

"As originally planned," Preston said.

He leaned back into the seat, closed his eyes, and fell silent.

From the moment Jenna had returned from abroad, he had used his resources to pave the way for her, planning for this exact day.

He had never intended to keep her by his side forever.
