The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 390

After some thought, he decided to call Chloe anyway.

"The number you have dialed is out of service..."

At the sound of the cold, mechanical voice, Preston furrowed his brows, an inexplicable wave of panic rising in his chest.

It suddenly hit him that the last time he heard that message...

It was when Chloe had abandoned him and gone abroad.

Could it be...

No, impossible!

She was definitely just still mad and had blocked his number!

Things were different this time. Jenna was already out of the country. Why would Chloe leave now?

His thoughts were a tangled mess. Almost before the car had completely stopped, he threw the door open and sprinted into the hotel.

"Sir, do you need any assistance?" the receptionist asked, standing up.

"The guest in the penthouse suite—did she check out this morning?" Preston demanded.

"No, Mr. Hayes, she hasn't," the receptionist replied.

Preston let out a breath of relief.

A second later, his phone rang.

It was Marcus, The Manager from the island resort.

"Mr. Hayes, the hot air balloon is ready, and the ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine roses you ordered have arrived. We should have everything set up by tonight..."

"What time will you and Mrs. Hayes be arriving on the island?"

The exhaustion that had weighed down Preston's nerves for so long finally eased for a brief moment.

"We'll be there tonight. Proceed as planned," he said.

"Understood," Marcus replied. "We look forward to welcoming you and Mrs. Hayes."

"Make sure you oversee every single detail personally," Preston instructed. "Keep me updated on the progress in real-time."

"In short, there cannot be a single mistake."

"Otherwise..."

Preston trailed off, offering only a bitter smile.

Otherwise, Chloe would be even more furious.

She might really decide to ignore him for good.
