The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 102

Winona found his words laughable. She had been gone for so long, and he was only just now realizing it. Tallulah Shipley had clearly consumed all of his time and attention. Did he really think she would willingly accept being just one of the women in his life?

"What does it have to do with you?" she asked coldly, a fresh wave of pain for her lost child twisting in her gut.

"Winona, don't be difficult," he said, his tone softening. "Whatever misunderstanding there is, we can talk it out."

Her voice turned to ice. "I'm not going back. Not ever."

With that, she turned to leave, feeling sick at the thought of even speaking to him.

Seeing her determination to leave him, a tight, uncomfortable feeling clenched in Yulen's chest. But he wasn't about to let her go.

"Explain yourself! What's gotten into you?" he demanded, his face darkening as he grabbed her and started dragging her toward his car.

"Let go of me!" Winona, still weak from her ordeal, was powerless to resist and was easily forced into the car.

Yulen, completely oblivious to her physical state, spoke with a cold edge. "Winona, I've been more than good to you. Don't test my limits. I can tolerate any of your little tantrums, but leaving me is the one thing I will not allow."

His words extinguished any desire she had to argue. She simply stared at him, her eyes numb.

The car pulled up to their villa. Yulen forcefully dragged her out of the car, and she stumbled, nearly falling, but he didn't seem to notice.

Cora watched curiously as an enraged Yulen and a numb-looking Winona entered, but she didn't dare ask a single question.

Yulen hauled Winona upstairs to the bedroom and threw her onto the bed. Winona bit her lip to stifle a cry of pain. She clenched her fists, glaring at him.

With a trembling hand, Winona pulled her disheveled clothes back into place. Her body was still bleeding from the miscarriage, and after the struggle, she had no strength left to get up.

When Yulen came out, he glared at her. "I don't know what's gotten into you, but you'd better remember that you are my woman. Your place is here. If you dare to leave… just try me."

After his threat, he ignored her and went to the study next door. A short while later, he took a call from Tallulah and drove away from the villa.

Hearing his car leave, Winona took a deep breath, slowly sat up, and planned to leave.

When Cora saw her come downstairs, she asked if she'd like something to eat. Winona ignored her and headed to the entryway to put on her shoes, but Cora blocked her path. "Ma'am, Mr. Locke said you're not to go anywhere tonight."

A dull ache spread through Winona's abdomen, making her unsteady on her feet. Since Yulen was gone, staying the night to rest wasn't the worst idea. There was no point in pushing her body any further.

Without another word to Cora, she turned and went back to the bedroom.
