The next morning, Winona got up and went down for breakfast.
After serving her, Cora said, "Ma'am, Mr. Locke wanted me to tell you that you're allowed to go to work. However, if you don't come home tonight, he'll have you fired."
Winona took a deep breath to keep her anger in check. After breakfast, she took a taxi to work. She was busy until noon.
After lunch, she called Rhea. "Rhea, I'm ready to burn it all down with Yulen."
Rhea was shocked. "What happened? Did that scumbag bother you again?"
Winona sneered. "He wants to have his cake and eat it too, keeping me trapped at home. I won't let him get his way. I have proof he deceived me into this marriage. If I release it, his reputation will be ruined, and the Locke Group will take a hit. I'm done holding back."
Rhea worried that such a move would provoke retaliation from the Locke family. But after all the pain Yulen had caused Winona, making her lose her child, she knew her friend would be driven to a breaking point if she kept silent. She decided she would face any consequences alongside Winona.
"Okay, I get it. I'll help you. My boyfriend, Harlan, has some connections. I'll talk to him. I'll make sure that by tomorrow, every media outlet in Riverton has Yulen and Tallulah's scandal as their top story!"
That evening, Winona returned to Yulen's villa. Cora's face lit up when she saw her. "You're back, ma'am! Mr. Locke said he's coming home for dinner, so I made a couple of extra dishes."
Winona just grunted and went to her room.
Ten minutes later, Yulen's car pulled into the driveway. When he came inside and saw Winona's shoes in the entryway, a smile touched his lips.
Cora was just bringing the food out.
"Is she back?" he asked as he changed his shoes.
"She's in the bedroom," Cora nodded.
Yulen pulled out a chair for her, waiting for her to sit before taking the seat beside her. Noticing how pale she was, he asked, "Are you not feeling well?"
Having just had a miscarriage and been treated so roughly by him the day before, it was a wonder she didn't look worse. She said nothing, however, and just ate her dinner quietly.
He assumed she was just tired and didn't press her. Just then, his phone rang.
Yulen glanced at it and declined the call. But it immediately rang again. He declined it again.
Winona knew it was Tallulah. "Aren't you going to answer?" she asked indifferently. "What if it's an emergency?"
Yulen hung up again. "Nothing is more important than you. Tonight, I'm staying with you."
