The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 104

She just hummed, not taking him seriously. She didn't believe for a second that he could actually ignore Tallulah. Besides, knowing Tallulah's personality, his refusal would only make her more determined.

When the third call came, he turned off his phone. Winona was a bit surprised. This was the first time she'd seen him ignore Tallulah's calls.

"Hey Winona, if you're not busy tonight, how about we watch a movie? You've been asking me to watch one with you, but I've always been too busy. It's rare for us both to be free, so let's relax and watch something."

Winona gave a noncommittal "hmm."

Yulen turned on the TV and started browsing for a good movie. Winona's phone buzzed. It was a text from Tallulah: "Winona, why do you keep clinging to my man? Have you no shame?"

Winona didn't reply and simply turned her phone off too.

Yulen found a romance film and smiled. "We watched this on our first date."

Winona glanced at the screen, a bitter sense of irony washing over her. She remembered how, after watching it back then, Yulen had promised he would never cheat like the male lead. The reality was, he was far worse than that character.

Halfway through the movie, the landline rang. Yulen's expression changed the moment he answered the phone. He turned to Winona and said, "Something's come up at the office. I have to go out for a bit. I'll finish the movie with you tomorrow night."

With that, he grabbed his coat and hurried out.

Winona didn't acknowledge him, her eyes remaining fixed on the screen.

It was Yulen's older sister, Camille.

"Winona, you've got some nerve," Camille's voice was ice-cold. "You dared to plot against my brother? But I suppose you didn't know my husband has extensive connections in the media. I've already suppressed all that evidence that was damaging to my brother."

Winona dug her nails into her palm. She hadn't expected Camille to find out so quickly.

Hearing only silence, Camille sneered. "Let's meet. We need to talk."

They met at a café. Camille had an early meeting to get to and had no intention of wasting time on Winona. She spoke with an air of superiority, "I didn't think you'd find out about Yulen and Tallulah so soon. But what good would it do you to make this public? The fact that Yulen is willing to humor you with a sham marriage proves he loves you, doesn't it? Otherwise, he could have just followed the playbook of his circle and kept you as a mistress with no dignity. What more could you possibly be dissatisfied with?"
