The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 114

Yulen breathed a sigh of relief. Knowing this was the reason, his suspicions about Winona and Stefan’s relationship vanished. Besides, it was a good thing for Winona to be close to the Goddard family; it would benefit both his family and the Locke Group.

Tallulah, however, grew even more annoyed. Winona was just too lucky. She randomly saves an old woman who turns out to be the matriarch of the Goddard family.

Yulen was about to use the project as an excuse to chat more with Stefan, but Stefan suddenly spoke up. “Mr. Locke, I saw you dining with the Shipley family before. I thought you were all one family, but it seems I was mistaken.”

Yulen glanced at Winona, feeling a pang of guilt as he explained, “Mr. Shipley and I have been business partners for years, so it’s quite normal for us to dine together. Mr. Goddard, what made you think that?”

“Is that so?” Stefan offered a faint smile, as if he could see right through him. Yulen’s grip on his wine glass tightened instinctively.

Seeing Yulen once again deny their connection in public, Tallulah shot a resentful look at Winona.

But Winona was engrossed in a lighthearted conversation with Nolan, seemingly oblivious to their exchange, which only infuriated Tallulah more.

After dinner, the Shipley family was the first to leave.

Tallulah had enough sense not to get into Yulen’s car. With Winona and other influential figures present, she knew Yulen wouldn’t be driving her home.

Yulen turned to Winona. “I’ll take you home.”

Just then, Stefan’s Maybach pulled up beside them. The window rolled down, and Stefan’s cool, indifferent eyes swept over. “Winona, get in.”

A strange frustration welled up inside Yulen. He looked at Winona, wanting to hear her personally refuse Stefan.

But to his dismay, Winona agreed.

He grabbed her wrist, his eyes turning icy. “Winona!”

Her expression remained calm. “Our lab is collaborating with the Goddard Group. What’s so strange about me discussing work with Mr. Goddard? Yulen, the Locke Group is also a partner in this project. Surely you can understand that, right?”

Yulen released his grip and watched her get into the car, a strange unease settling in his chest. It felt as if, once she left, she would never come back.

Stefan noticed a smudge of sauce on her cheek. He reached out and gently wiped it away with his finger, the delicate touch of her skin making him pause for a fraction of a second.

Winona instinctively looked up, their eyes meeting. A strange current shot through her, and a blush crept onto her cheeks.

Stefan quickly withdrew his hand, his voice as steady as ever. “You had something on your face.”

“Oh.” She quickly lowered her gaze and touched her cheek.

The restaurant owner brought over a plate of complimentary garlic bread, smiling warmly. “You two are here so often. This is on the house.”

Winona’s heart hammered against her ribs as she rushed to explain, “We’re not…”

At the same moment, Stefan simply said, “Thank you.”

Winona froze, staring at him in stunned silence.
