The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 113

The next evening, Winona arrived at the designated restaurant first. Stefan had texted that his driver was parking the car and he'd be up shortly. As she waited by the elevators, she suddenly spotted Tallulah with her family.

Tallulah was talking animatedly with her father, Zelig, and mother, Blythe. While Blythe was always sharp-tongued with Winona, she was incredibly gentle with her own daughter, indulging her every request.

"I thought you said Yulen was coming with you," Zelig asked Tallulah. "Where is he?"

"He said he'd be here as soon as he finishes with a client," Tallulah explained. "Let's go to our private room first."

Not wanting to run into them, Winona turned to walk away, planning to come back and wait for the elevator later. But as fate would have it, she walked straight into Yulen, who was approaching from down the hall.

"Yulen, you're here!" Zelig called out, spotting him. "We're over here."

Yulen turned to Winona and explained, "I have some business to discuss with Zelig Shipley. Do you want to join us?"

Winona had no desire to be a third wheel. "I'm meeting a friend, so I'll pass."

Yulen assumed she was meeting Rhea and didn't think much of it. "Alright, I'll head over then."

He had barely taken two steps when the elevator doors chimed open, revealing Stefan and Nolan inside.

Nolan saw Winona and called out, "Winona, over here!"

With an inward sigh, Winona had no choice but to walk over.

Yulen, realizing she was meeting Nolan, was puzzled. Nolan was a high-level executive at Goddard Group's branch company; he shouldn't have any private dealings with Winona. Could Nolan be the man who had given her that expensive watch? He glanced at the watch on Nolan’s wrist and immediately dismissed the idea. The price difference between Nolan’s watch and the one she'd received was immense. It couldn't be him. The thought that it might be Stefan never even crossed his mind. A man of Stefan's stature would never be interested in a married woman like Winona.

Yulen, wary of another misunderstanding, made no intimate gestures toward Tallulah. Her parents, aware of his relationship with Winona, were displeased but tolerated her presence for the sake of Yulen's family resources. In their eyes, Winona was just a cheap mistress who couldn't be shown in public—no real threat.

Suddenly, Stefan picked up the water pitcher and poured a glass for Winona.

Before Winona could even react, she heard gasps around the table.

Yulen’s expression shifted. Could the owner of the watch really be Stefan?

Seeing everyone's astonishment, Nolan chuckled and offered a smooth explanation. "A while back, Mr. Goddard’s grandmather, Violet, had a medical emergency, and Winona was the one who helped her. Mr. Goddard’s been grateful ever since and looks out for her because of that.

Nolan often reported to the Goddard Manor and was familiar with Violet. He had once overheard her praising Winona's skill with acupuncture and how she had saved her, a fact he had tucked away and remembered.
