Winona, along with several other colleagues, gathered around to see who had really deleted the data.
Nolan, hearing the commotion, came over as well.
Corin entered a series of commands. The system revealed that a virus had deleted the file. He then had the system trace the virus's IP address, which pointed directly to Tallulah’s computer.
Everyone turned to Tallulah, their expressions shifting.
Tallulah feigned composure. “It definitely wasn’t me. I don’t have those kinds of skills. Besides, my computer data was deleted last time, too. It must have been done by the same person.”
Eloise rushed to her defense. “That’s right! The real culprit probably has it out for Tallulah and is trying to frame her.”
As she spoke, she shot a look at Winona, making her implication perfectly clear.
Not wanting the situation to escalate, Nolan intervened. “This IP address doesn’t prove anything conclusively. Let’s stop accusing each other. I’ll have someone upgrade the office security to prevent this from happening again.”
With that, Nolan left.
Eloise sneered at Winona. “You’re really lucky. You managed to get away with it again.”
Winona scoffed. “The virus wasn’t on my computer; it was on Tallulah’s. What’s the point of you constantly coming after me?”
Corin spoke up to Eloise. “Regardless, I believe Winona. She genuinely helped me yesterday, and she shouldn’t be wrongly accused.”
Winona had no desire to waste time on such trivial matters and returned to her workstation to continue her work.
Seeing how calm and composed she was, Tallulah secretly gritted her teeth. She hadn’t managed to force Winona out this time, so she’d just have to wait for another chance.
Thanks to the instigation of Eloise and Wren, the other team members still didn’t trust Winona, and they all made sure to keep her away from their computers.
Feeling guilty, Corin went over to Winona’s desk to apologize. “I’m sorry. If I had known this would happen, I would have come in this morning. They wouldn’t have just thrown the blame on you.”
Winona didn’t even glance in their direction, quietly sipping her latte.
Corin, sitting to her right, leaned in and whispered, “Are Tallulah and Mr. Locke really just a boss and his subordinate? I heard from Eloise that they might be a couple.”
“I wouldn’t know,” Winona said flatly.
Sensing she didn’t want to gossip, Corin fell silent.
During dinner, Yulen noticed that everyone around them was treating Winona coldly. He leaned over and asked Tallulah in a low voice, “Does your team not like Winona?”
Tallulah smiled. “Not at all. It’s just that Winona is too arrogant and doesn’t fit in. People feel like they have to be careful with every word when they talk to her about work. So they naturally keep their distance.”
Winona excused herself to go to the restroom. When she came out, she found Yulen waiting for her by the door.
“Winona,” he began, “you should just quit.”
