The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 130

Wynne walked slowly through the park, the bodyguard following at a discreet distance. Eventually, she wandered to the nearby shopping mall and sat on a bench, staring at the fountain.

Winona, out for her lunch break, happened to see her. Noticing Wynne’s somber expression, she approached her with concern. “Mrs. Powell, is everything alright?”

Wynne looked up, pulled from her thoughts. “I’m fine.”

For reasons she couldn’t quite explain, Wynne felt drawn to Winona every time she saw her. Even after she had been accused of hurting Ophelia at Willow’s birthday party, Wynne found it impossible to dislike her.

“Have you eaten?” Winona asked. “Would you like to have lunch together?”

Her concern for Wynne wasn’t entirely due to the project between the Locke and Powell Groups. She could tell Wynne’s kindness toward her was genuine, and she simply wanted to return it.

Wynne glanced at the time and realized it was already twelve-thirty. She had been walking for a long time and was indeed hungry.

“Alright,” she agreed.

They went to a nearby restaurant. As it turned out, Wynne’s taste in food was remarkably similar to Winona’s; they liked almost all the same dishes.

“Ophelia and I have completely different tastes,” Wynne laughed. “You’re more like me than she is.”

Winona also felt a strange sense of familiarity and closeness with her, a feeling she didn't even have with Blythe.

After their meal, Winona remembered the instructions from Willow and Camille. She hesitated for a moment before bringing up the project.

Wynne wasn’t angry. She had a good relationship with Willow, and if the Locke family needed help, she was willing to provide it. She thought for a moment. “I rarely get involved in Powell Group’s business, but there must be a reason the project wasn’t approved. I’ll recommend someone to you. He’s the project director at Powell Group, a Mr. Clark. Ask him what changes need to be made to get it approved. I can’t interfere with the approval process directly, but I can point you to the person who handles it.”

Winona was already grateful that Wynne hadn’t refused to help and was even willing to connect her with the project director. She jotted down his contact information and then continued to chat warmly with Wynne.

Winona knew Ophelia was hostile toward her and replied coolly, “Yes. But I can’t compare to Ms. Powell’s widespread fame.”

“Are you and Stefan very close?” Ophelia asked next.

Winona didn’t know how to answer. Wynne suddenly cut in, “Ophelia, what are you talking about? Winona is Yulen’s wife. Why would she be close with Stefan?”

Ophelia smiled, feigning nonchalance. “Oh, right. I almost forgot. I must have been overthinking things.”

“You just place too much importance on Stefan,” Wynne said with a sigh. “You’re seeing shadows everywhere.”

It was only then that Winona understood: Ophelia was in love with Stefan. She thought back to the phone call that night. The ‘Ms. Powell’ who had called Stefan must have been her. She wasn’t sure about their relationship, but from Wynne’s tone, it seemed there might be something significant between them after all.
