Yulen had expected her to be angry. Her cold indifference, as if she didn't care at all, was far more unsettling. In the past, she would have been furious that he had sided with Tallulah, but now, there was nothing.
He tried to probe further. "If you're upset, you have to tell me, Winona. We're husband and wife. You don't have to hide your feelings from me."
"I'm really not angry," she said flatly.
Yulen was convinced she was lying. He sighed. "You clearly are. Alright, let's go somewhere first. I want to buy you a gift to make it up to you. After that, we can go see Nikita."
"That's not necessary."
She wanted nothing from him. But Yulen ignored her protests, turning the steering wheel and heading in a different direction. He pulled up to a high-end jewelry store and led Winona inside.
"Pick whatever you like," he told her. "Anything at all."
Seeing a wealthy client, the salesperson eagerly began showcasing their products.
Winona couldn't have been less interested, but she knew Yulen wouldn't leave until she chose something. So, she pointed at a pink diamond necklace.
"An excellent choice, madam!" the salesperson gushed. "This pink diamond is from our latest collection and is also a fantastic investment piece."
Winona was surprised she'd inadvertently picked one of the most expensive items in the store. Not that she felt any sympathy for Yulen's wallet. The gifts he bought for Tallulah were likely far more extravagant.
Seeing her pick a gift, Yulen smiled, assuming he was forgiven. He paid without a second thought. "Do you want to look at anything else?"
