The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 158

Yulen’s tone softened, realizing she was working for the Locke Group. “You still have to eat,” he insisted. He took her by the hand and led her to his car before she could pull away.

Once inside, she found herself in the back seat with Tallulah. The two women, mutually disliking each other, sat in stony silence.

Suddenly, Tallulah turned to Yulen. “Yulen, my stomach feels a little upset. I think I should go to the hospital.”

“Alright,” Yulen replied, his voice filled with concern.

Winona had no desire to be their third wheel. “Just let me out here.”

“No, it’s fine. You can come with us,” Yulen said.

Winona let out a derisive laugh. “Are you sure about that?”

Yulen seemed to remember something and looked away, flustered. “I’ll… I’ll drop you at the next corner.”

The car stopped at a subway entrance, and Winona got out without a moment’s hesitation.

Watching her walk away without a backward glance, Yulen frowned. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be. Could it be that Winona truly didn’t care about him at all?

The thought made him agitated.

Winona couldn’t be bothered with Yulen’s thoughts. She took the subway back to her apartment, sent the updated proposal to Victor, and followed up with a text: “Victor, I hope you’ll honor your promise. I won our fencing match, and my only request is that you review my research and development proposal.”

Victor replied almost immediately: “Done.”

He opened the file. He had expected something similar to the last draft, but this new proposal was on a completely different level. It was impressive. He found it to be nearly perfect.

He texted back, “Ms. Jowett, please come to my office the day after tomorrow in the afternoon.”
