He stared in disbelief at the completely plastered Zayden.
What?
The one who saved him wasn't Tallulah, but Winona?
Yulen drove Zayden back to the Shipley estate. Zayden was dead drunk, so Yulen got out and had the Shipley family's housekeeper carry him inside.
Tallulah was waiting for him at the door. Seeing him, she smiled and came over, linking her arm through his. "Yulen, thank you for bringing my brother back. It's so late, why don't you stay? Spend the night here, please?"
Yulen looked at her innocent face, Zayden's words echoing in his mind. A sharp edge crept into his eyes.
"Alright."
Seeing him agree, Tallulah's smile widened. She pulled him into the house and ordered the housekeeper to draw a hot bath so Yulen could relax. Smelling of alcohol, Yulen went into the bathroom, but instead of taking a bath, he took a quick shower and came back out.
Tallulah was sitting on the bed in a sultry nightgown, applying lotion. When she saw him emerge so quickly, her eyes lit up and she held out her hands. "Yulen, hold me while you sleep tonight."
Instead of kissing and embracing her as he usually would, Yulen stood at a distance, looking down at her. Tallulah was confused. "Yulen, what's wrong?" He was acting very strange tonight.
"That fire four years ago," Yulen asked, his voice cold. "Were you really the one who saved me?"
Tallulah hadn't expected him to ask this. Did Winona say something to him? She fought back a wave of panic. "Of course it was me, Yulen. Don't you believe me?"
